Best home schedule in LSU history? Has probably already been debated but worth revisiting

Asking the question without admittedly looking back at previous schedules but this has to rank in the top 3 home schedules, right?

Marquee non-con opponent (Clemson)
In-state $ games (LA Tech/McNeese)
SEC slate (A&M, Miss St, Bama, Texas)

With the 9 game conference schedule making home/road splits uneven, couldn't ask for a better set of home conference games if you're only going to have 4, right?

Agree. Great year to have season tickets. That’s for sure.

You may be right. My immediate reaction was to say 2007 because of Virginia Tech and the epic Florida game but the others were Auburn, USCe, and Arkansas. Kind of meh although that was Arkansas with Felix Jones and Darren McFadden in the backfield.

2028 & 2029 look pretty good too, but neither are at the level of Clemson, Bama, & Texas for home games

2028 (SMU, Auburn, Tenn, A&M)
2029 (UGA, Ole Miss, Florida)

I have been saying this for a while. Totally agree. Some the best is yet to come.

They get forgotten because of how bad LSU generally was during that period, but there were some good schedules in the late 80's/early 90's.

83 - Florida St, Washington (top 10 at the time), Florida, Alabama
86 - A&M, Georgia, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ole Miss [LSU only played two home SEC games that season]
87 - Ohio State, Florida, Alabama
88 - A&M, Auburn (earthquake), Ole Miss, Miami (finished No. 2)
89 - Florida St (finished No. 2), Florida, Tennessee, Alabama
91 - Florida, Florida St., Alabama (all finished in top 10)

EDT: 2007 was good too: Virginia Tech, South Carolina (No. 12 at gametime), Florida, Auburn, Arkansas

- great list.

A couple of more from the 70s:
71 - Colorado (finished at AP #3), A&M, UF, Bama (went undefeated before getting trounced by Nebraska in the Orange Bowl), Notre Dame (legendary TS night game) along with the locals (Rice & Tulane)

'79 - USC (legendary TS night game), UF, UK, State, FSU, Bama (lost 0-3 to eventual NC)

2018 was pretty good; that was the year I talked my wife into getting season tickets because I knew I wanted to go to both the Bama game and the Georgia game.

Didn't have the premier OOC matchup in TS. It was neitral site game.

Home schedule that year was

Southeastern Louisiana
La Tech
Ole Miss
#2 Georgia
#22 Mississippi State
#1 Alabama
Rice
