If the NCAA listens to Simmons we could well find ourselves in another investigation and potentially another probation. All on account of a damned loser.

This is why the 1 and done rule is stupid. It should be like baseball and football. Let them go pro but if you come you should be hear for 3 years.
Honestly, Fournette was as ready to go pro after 1 year as much as Simmons was. The rules are there to protect the vast majority of players. There are only one or two players a year that fall into the Simmons / Fournette category.

I don't care enough about Ben Simmons to read more than 2 posts in this thread, but has there ever been a less likable "superstar" at LSU?

Ben Simmons Take on the NCAA

Virtually everything he said is spot on about the NCAA/NBA partnership with the minor league talent.

People make money for companies working for free as interns. Be glad you got a free education, room/board, food, healthcare, books, etc.

Perhaps, but that dude was way too mentally soft to play in the league last year.

That attitude will follow him in the pros. Doesn't say much about love of the game and self improvement as an educated person.

At LSU, he said he was offered a "Bentley, a Wraith Rolls-Royce, watches, jewelry, a house ... anything. It literally is anything. People coming at you, offering you things."
1. Could this get us in trouble?

2. It doesn't sound too bad to me. Not sure why he's complaining.

JJ should have stayed far away from that kid. Sounds like Simmons may become JJ's Lester Earl.

Yes one and done is stupid.

Regardless, Ben Simmons was not worth the trouble. Yes, his stats were impressive but he was a cancer. That's the real take away.

What a dumb arse.

First, he's bitching about the one and done rule to the wrong organization. Thats the NBA's rule, not the NCAA's. Complain to Adam Silver about that.

Second, nobody forced him to come to college for a year. He could've went and played pro ball in Europe for a year. He wouldn't have gotten nearly the exposure here as NCAA gave him, so its likely he wouldnt have been the #1 pick and probably wouldn't have landed a lucrative Nike shoe deal before ever playing in the NBA.....but at least he could've made some money while waiting for the NBA's one year out of high school rule.

He knew he wasnt staying at LSU long enough for a degree, but why not take some financial management classes that'll still be useful to someone who knew they'd have millions of dollars to manage in the near future. His attitude strikes me as someone who will end up bankrupt not long after his playing days are over. Hopefully some wise old NBA veteran puts some sense into him before its too late

Maybe the NCAA should return to using true student athletes and do away with the one and dones, even the 3 and dones.

Ben Simmons is a class act. A role model for many children across the world.

He was a complete cancer to our team and i'm ecstatic he is gone from our University.
