Marinate on something that had less than a 0% of a chance happening?

It seems the trajectory of LSU basketball has already changed for the better

Imagine if Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, James Harden and Ben Simmons all came to LSU and stayed for four years.

Do you see how crazy and unrealistic what I posted was? What you posted is just as crazy and unrealistic.

His last thread was asking us to imagine if Simmons, who's been gone for 3 years, was on this team.

Ben Simmons

Actually did change the trajectory of LSU basketball. It was OBVIOUS that he was a phenom, and LSU was still unable to reach the tourney because of poor poor coaching. Ben Simmons enabled us to get rid of Johnny sooner than we might have

All Ben Simmons did was waste a spot on the team that couldve been used for someone else.

Or Ben Simmons had LSU plastered all over nearly every sports talk show for almost an entire calender year. LSU would have been an afterthought without him.

Pete Maravich playing four years worth of stats. What could have been.
Keeping Simmons and Jones? No thank you.

And many thanks to the basketball gods that Eddie Nunez (Former Florida basketball player) was around to find WW.

No doubt that Alleva would've brought in yet another "In over his Head" coach from heaven's knows where.

I wasn't terribly interested when he was here for a year, and neither was he. I was fine with him leaving when he did.

The trajectory of LSU BBL got much better when he left. Physical skills alone don't make a team great.

They were still an afterthought. They talked about him and they talked about what a joke LSU was. That's not the type of publicity I want. As if no one knew who LSU was before Ben Simmons. This may not have been a great basketball school for a long time, but it's a prestigious athletic program, all around.

His time here did nothing to further LSU's image. James Harden went to Arizona State. Kevin Durant went to Texas. Russell Westbrook went to UCLA. How are those schools all doing? Where's the uptick in recruiting? They're hit or miss. And UCLA has TONS of historical figures to point to.

I've made this point before, and I'll say it again: Winning brings recruits. A coach who players believe in brings recruits. Having big time players on your team is supposed to help you recruit other players, while those big name players are there. It can't, and won't help you much, if any, AFTER those players leave, if you aren't winning. History bears that out. Whatever John Calipari was selling at Memphis, it was bringing in big time recruits every year. when he went to Kentucky, it followed him, and the recruiting dried up for Memphis when the next guy took over.

Why? Because no one cared who had played there before. No one knew who Josh Pastner was. But they knew where Calipari went. Will Wade's hard work has turned this program around. I'm not about to give any of that credit to a guy who was here for 5 minutes, and made it all about himself.
