For the billionth time, it is about how an icon (to these hs stars) can make LSU an attractive place to play college ball. The won't know or care about his problems here, they will just know that their MOTHERBLANKING IDOL played for LSU. His POSITIVE EFFECT on LSU will last 10-15 yrs and beyond. You don't have to be stephen hawking to figure this bullspit out, DAMN!!!!!!!!

And where does him repeatedly shittalking his college experience play into your daydream?

These hypothetical fans adore everything about him and want to follow in his footsteps, but won’t know about his views on college?

In spite of him participating is a whole hour long documentary where he is the subject and he shits on the entire idea of future NBA stars ever going to college period

Repeatedly?

Or did he say he didn’t learn anything at LSU?

Because that’s the truth. We fricking had Johnny Jones as his coach.

He wasn’t just talking about BB.

He flat out said he didn’t even develop as a person here.

Yes, I do believe multiple interviews spread out over more than a year and a full documentary of his opinion counts as repeatedly.

An excerpt of a synopsis of his video:
quote:

It captures Simmons and his inner circle as they realize a lifelong dream, while revealing a college life at Louisiana State University no one outside of Simmons' inner circle and the university had previously known about. Simmons discusses how he really didn't have any friends at LSU, aside from only a few of the basketball team, and being bombarded with requests for photos and signatures from his classmates at the university. Simmons was also extremely critical on the NCAA and paying athletes, which he strongly believes they should do. He says, "[LSU] can't expect me to act like everyone else if they don't treat me like everyone else."

Disappointed dreams, loneliness, and hypocrisy from those who are using you

Oh yes, that shite will make the elite FLOCK to LSU.

Unless I’m mistaken, it’s on Netflix.

Why don’t you watch it before annointing him as a Tiger Legend.

Who the frick does?

He’s just honest about it. He fricking didn’t improve as a player, he wasn’t prepared for the real world.

You know the basic college experience.

Umm.

Pretty much everyone?

If your college experience didn’t teach you anything about yourself, you are doing something wrong.

But that is beside the point.

I’m not saying he should have gotten a personal epiphany in six months.

It’s that you are trying to reduce everything he said to the court and JJ and it’s not.

He flat out says he hated every single bit of the college experience, and is forcefully advocating the NCAA to remove the requirement. In fact, he often tries to AVOID talking about the sport/team element, probably because it would make it easier to dismiss his real point.

I’m not interpreting his words. He has CAMPAIGNED this.

This isn’t something that will draw people to LSU like the daydreamer above believes.

Watch one and done and tell me that puts us in any kind of positive angle.

Johnny Jones should have been fired after that year. What a waste of talent. We turned down the NIT because the team chemistry was so bad that’s Hall of Infamy shite right there.

I can't totally blame him there. If I was talented enough to play and make millions of dollars, I wouldn't be crazy about having (and I realize no one put a gun to his head) to play for free while the University and others profited off of me. Since I grew up an LSU fan, I'm sure I would have still cherished the time, but Ben grew up in Australia, and I doubt had that same connection.

I don’t either.

It’s why I don’t wish him ill.

But I laugh at people who think he is an iconic Tiger that will be visibly associated with LSU throughout his career that will attract future talent.

Shaq did this. He is proud of his LSU connection. Even came back to finish his degree. Makes appearances, gives back, and speaks positively of the university.

You won’t EVER get BS to get one foot in BR for any reason or purpose ever again. And to think he is similar to Shaq in that regard is just laughably absurd.

I could be wrong, but I think some of the reason people post so much positive stuff about Ben these days is because of how much vitriol others have posted about him in the past. A good portion of this board really dogged Ben when he was here and had an astonishing mix of ignorance and arrogance on how certain they were that he would be a big bust in the NBA.

And I will say that Coach Wade is pretty aggressive on Twitter promoting Ben, so he must think it will help bring in future talent. Also, Ben twitted positively about LSU basketball multiple this year.

I don't read this board too often, but has anyone claimed this? I certainly haven't seen that.

Dude these elite players aren't gonna give a rat's arse about Ben's experience in BR. All they will know is "yo dawg big b played at elll ezzzz uuuu" and I think coach Wade (ya know the guy in charge of this motherblanker) will figure out a way to exploit the way top recruits will be dazzled by the fact Ben went here. Don't overthink this bullspit. These guys aren't rocket scientists. The fact Ben is and will continue to destroy the association will reap benefits for years for our tigers. You and I know he wasn't thrilled here (for a variety of reasons), but they won't have a clue.

The seaward, I don't believe Ben will be the ambassador for LSU that Shaq is, Shaq is AWESOME in that regard. Ben will go down (barring injury) as an all time NBA great in the Bird, Magic, Shaq,Lebron,Kobe category. We will be a strong option for tons of future players on this alone.

He was worshipped on and off campus every time I saw him. To say he “hated” LSU is ridiculous. Sure he hated the general studies classes, but to say he HATED his time at lsu is so ridiculous

That team had more than enough talent to win 23+ games with an apathetic, “care free” Ben Simmons. I was a big Johnny supporter leading up to that season but he ruined it with that season

I just don’t understand how people make such broad generalizations about Ben simmons’ thoughts on his time at lsu when all he did was shite on the NCAA and a passive jab at Johnny for squandering him (which he did)

At some point, Ben will record a QUADRUPLE DOUBLE, most likely with 10+ steals. Mark my word.
