Yeah I have been sitting back since last year watching all the hype about this Simmons kid and now have seen about enough of him for one season. He is very over rated. Don't get me wrong, he is good at some things, but he lacks in other categories. The one thing I really don't like about him is his ego trip. And the fact that many of you even said he would only be here for 1 season. I ask......is that really right? Give this kid a scholarship to come and play for 1 year knowing he may very well leave for the NBA and he couldn't even deliver a championship. It just proves that there was way too much hype for this kid. Very over rated. I for one will be glad to see him go.

If you want to win in today's college basketball you either have to get the one and dones and be really talented every year or get a good group of guys develop them for four years struggle for two of those and possible get two good seasons when they are just older than everyone they are playing see Wisconsin last year.

Simmons' problems are due to the massive hype machine that is the national media. Reporting is now all about 'the next LeBron or the next Jordan' and these kids don't have a chance to grow into the player they are supposed to be. It's sickening that high school kids can get so much exposure so young.

Ben is a really good player with natural instincts and in time he will be an amazing player and probably NBA All-star. But... It's going to take awhile. He's been coddled his entire basketball life and has no idea how to handle adversity. It's not really his fault. It's the fault of every adult in his life who wanted to latch onto the Ben Simon's Fame and Money train. Some coach needed to bust his arse years ago. If they had, he'd be a much better player today.

He might have the talent, but his performance and attitude over the course of the season were not up to the level of "best player". Much of the time he played like a one and done just biding his time until the NBA, which might eat him alive. The talent was showcased at times, but not near enough to justify the hype and expectations. I wish him luck. With him gone next year, the team will have to come together and not depend on him as a savior.

For everybody not real happy about Simmons, just imagine next year when JJ doesn't have him, and has 2 or 3 SEC caliber players that have to carry the load , and depend upon his coaching ability to win games. It could be a long, long time before having a player of Simmons natural ability again . After the powers that be finally realize that JJ is so far over his head , it will be interesting to see how DB and CT try to deflect heat that will be sure to come. When Musselman left our only sign of being able to coach left.

Well then you're an idiot.

Seriously, imagine how horrible this team would be without him. Was he overhyped? Sure. But he is without question our best player and the only reason we were even flirting with the tournament under this inept coaching staff. It's pathetic how our fans have made Simmons the fall guy for all of this. I hope you're still glad he's gone when we win 5-6 games in the SEC next year.

Dude is a massive punk. Pre-Madonna, pouts, can't shoot worth a damn, and continues that drive into 3 people throw it off the glass crap....honestly though, I could live with all of that if he wasn't such a punk.

He blows at taking care of his own fans...people wait after the games for him to come out and he NEVER comes out to sign around 20 autographs, TWENTY...everyone else comes out except him.
He decided to go out the back door to his car but on TV or on the road, Lord he's the most giving player out there...what a joke.

Sign stuff for your OWN teams fans ya big superstar...frick this dude, go to the train wreck that is Philly.

And yes, all of this shows me how much more class and respect I have for LF7.

I don't get the unlikeable thing. I guess just because of this one comment?

Otherwise, he said everything he is supposed to throughout the entire year. They interview him after every game and he is almost always very well-spoken and says the right thing, especially for a true freshman.

It really is. Not sure why people can't grasp that basketball is a team sport.

"With him gone next year, the team will have to come together and not depend on him as a savior".

Boy I sure wish the team could get a real 3, who can shoot, handle ball a little, and run, and defend other 3. And not a guard trying to play that position. A real point guard and not a half-effective forward trying to play PG.And a real center who blocks shots and not a 6'9" PF trying to do that ineffectively. And atleast 3 bench players with no big drop off when put in.

But hey it's LSU basketball, we can expect ANOTHER patched up misfit team and, we will be rooting for them

No it isn't. We're mediocre. Missouri is horrible. We just underachieve due to lack of coaching and leadership
