Nola is great but didn’t have to pitch against bouncy bat

Greatest season. My understanding is that this thread is about the overall best to never win one.

Lloyd never won one. His one year is the best in LSU history, not really close IMO. I'll take Nola for best career and it is pretty close. I'm thankful we have been blessed with such great talent over the years.

Oooffffff all these downvotes. Must have triggered some Big Ben fans and not my fault he collapsed in CWS pressure.

Lange was fantastic but had struggles. Nola never had ebbs and flows. It always felt like Nola was a guaranteed W on a Friday night against anyone’s ace.

Lange had a better freshman season than Nola and was undefeated in Omaha. He also eclipsed Ben in Ks.

Best single season - Peever
Best two seasons - Nola's So and Jr years
Best three seasons - probably Ben or Lange

FTR, we don't know how fortunate we are to have seen so many great players come through here.

And we have only scratched the surface of the pitchers. Larson was brought up earlier but our position players could fill up a history book. May our future years match the legacy of past years.

It took unfathomably bad luck for Nola and especially Lange (Walker injury) not to have rings.

ETA: we easily win it with Nola in Rosenblatt. I loathe that new stadium for both its dimensions and sellout name.

I’ve been watching the program since Skip came on board. From Reboulet to Williams, Johnson, Bregman, Linden, Furniss, Clark, LeMahieu, Dean, Shrimpf, Mahtook, etc. I know I’m leaving some out but now is the time for these young guys to put there name on it. If we can get decent pitching this could be the year.

And I forgot Walker and Morris.

Also Cresse, Barbier, Mouton, Belle (both), Espinosa.

We truly have been fortunate.

Lloyd Peever had the greatest season by any LSU pitcher. That is not an argument. Ask Skip.

Peever went 14-0 with an earned run average of 1.92.

Peever also started the season with 39 straight innings without a walk.

I agree, after Nola’s freshman year, he was automatic on Friday night.

Skip on ESPN's 30- 30 said Ben McDonald was the best player he ever coached. I'll go with the unquestionable expert.

I won’t dispute the legend. I faced Ben in high school. Yes, he struck me out several times.

DS was in our district during his/my time. We had a pretty good team but he shut us down whenever he pitched.
