Is he one the best to pitch for LSU, and not win a CWS Championship? And he still the losingest pitching in College World Series history.

dead bat and ball era.

Lloyd Peever makes an argument as greatest season ever by a pitcher. Skip will tell you that himself.

Both awesome, but Lloyd Peever says hold my beer.

Did he play basketball for the Tigers too? I think not.

Lange was fantastic but had struggles. Nola never had ebbs and flows. It always felt like Nola was a guaranteed W on a Friday night against anyone’s ace.

Neither Lange nor Nola would have put up the innings Ben did that weekend in 1989 against one of the greatest College Baseball teams in history TAMU.

Lange digressed over his time at LSU. Ben won the Golden Spikes with some serious talent in that class.

Nola and Lange benefited from dead bats and balls

Sure, but they still had great stats.

If you want the best LSU pitcher of the Gorilla ball era, it was Paul Byrd.

Byrd: 31-11, 319 Ks
McDonald: 29-14, 373 Ks
Lange: 30-9, 406 Ks
Nola: 30-6, 344 Ks

Paul Byrd has a 17 win season at LSU

Don t know who downvoted my comment but obviously they don’t know LSU history. We have truly been blessed with great pitchers and players for years. It is tough to argue with Peever’s year as one of the best.

quote:

For 1992, he transferred to LSU and posted a 14–0 win–loss record, a 1.98 ERA, three complete games and a shutout in 17 appearances (15 starts). In 104.2 innings, he allowed only 67 hits and 20 walks, while striking out 116 batters.

A WHIP around .8 is hard to beat.

Ask Skip… the innings… Ks per inning.

Lloyd Peever had the greatest season by any LSU pitcher. That is not an argument. Ask Skip.

Some retards on here did because they likely never heard of Peever.

I was at those games and for that era, considering the bats, etc, it is amazing what he did. Bertman has said it many times that none did what he did for a single season.

Peever for a single season and it isn’t close.

Greatest season. My understanding is that this thread is about the overall best to never win one.

I mean, does anyone consider Brandon Larson the best LSU position player ever? Not even close. Peever's 1 season was the best, but not his career.

We get it Lloyd, you had a great season and no one takes that away from you.

Win loss record is the most absolutely worthless pitching stat in existence.
