"Former LSU cornerback Kevin Toliver has quickly separated himself from the crop of rookies and veterans trying to impress Matt Nagy and the Chicago Bears coaching staff at the team's rookie minicamp this weekend."

Good for him, and he’ll only have to play for that peanuts UDFA contract for what, three years?

This about sums up his career - lack of consistency and will.

Maybe the humble pie he tasted by not getting drafted will help him refocus and become the player many thought he could be.

The league minimum is 465k year 1, 540k year 2, and 615k year 3. That’s hardly peanuts

Compare that to one that was drafted. He fricked up.

That’s the minimum base salaries for a rookie

Here’s a 7th rounder...

Of course he is hungry. He gave up his free meal plan at LSU then didn’t get a job

Well that wasn’t the argument. The argument was that UDFAs make peanuts. No active players make peanuts. And honestly, after the 4th round or so it makes no difference. And one benefit to being an UDFA is you can only sign a 3 year contract so you can get to your big money contract sooner.

So 640k per year as opposed to 540k per year. HUGE difference

Etling also got $75k signing bonus.

And that’s 219th pick.

That’s not a lot either and Etling is stuck with his contract for an extra year.

Arden Key is only going to make ~850k/year as a 3rd rounder. With the new rookie pay scales, the NFL has decintivized players returning to school which has resulted in over 100 players that declared early this year and nearly 40% of them going undrafted.
