i was a marine for 8 years. being yelled at was a way of life........with that said, how that correlates here in todays youth etc, not sure.......but it shows me that at least BK has some fire in him leading up to week 1 and an apparent sense of urgency. we ridin!

It's not being yelled "at" anymore.
It's just raising your voice at the group because a standard is not being reached. Something as simple as getting the huddle right to break a period. If the standard is set and is not being met, then energy and enthusiasm needs to be exerted to get their attention the performance isn't reaching what the expectations are.

You sound badass Boi. Sounds important but has nothing to do with winning actual games.
The defense was torched all year last year under Kelly. It had nothing to do with breaking the huddle incorrectly.

Worry about the little things so you don't have to worry about the big things.
Practice so hard and expect so much that playing in a game is the easiest thing all week. Yes. Ace the little things.

Tuesday camp lull when you still have a week before you shift focus to USC. Gotta do whatever it takes to keep them from getting complacent.

You're right. Culture, organization, accountability, alignment, effort, habits, process, toughness and doing things the right way have nothing to do with winning games. Just ask Coach Saban, Boi.

Luckily, my dad prepared me for that. When I stepped off the bus at MCRD, it wasn't a shock. Some guys just started crying. Staying up two days straight for processing sucked more.
Semper Fi.

bullshite. In the long term, EVERYTHING matters. If there was one thing that Saban preached, it was that kind of consistency and attention to detail. Coaches that stress these things know they apply to everything all across the program. If you are paying attention to the small details, it carries over onto the field. It’s a mindset and way of life, not just how you play football.
Yes, you must have talent to win big in college football, but just take a look at A&M’s recruiting Jimbo’s last three years and his results. You need guys buying in and looking to do things the right way. That builds a culture. That’s never been more important than now with all of the constant roster turnover.
