If all that were to happen, I'm afraid some voters would "drop" LSU just to allow the Big10 champion into the BCSCG.
No way a one loss big 10 team jumps a one loss SEC team to play for a title the SEC has won four years in a row.

You can forget either of these happening.

You may be right, but if you're saying Nevada and Arizona have no chance, that's just ignorant.
Nevada and Arizona are solid teams. Not elite, but solid teams.
Nebraska losing to A&M really got LSU back into the title discussion IMO ... a 1-loss Big12 champion was a huge road block to LSU going to the BCSCG without winning the conference. Now the only road blocks appear to be the four teams that are actually in front of us in the BCS standing, along with a 1-loss Big10 champion which has already been discussed in this thread.

I agree, and I hope for an unlikely 2007 repeat, but I refuse to get my hopes too high so as to have to experience the disappointment. I'll expect low and be elated if the dominos fall.

No reason to get hopes dashed. LSU has had a great season, no matter what happens the next few weeks.
Just enjoy it ... and I really do think Bama beats Auburn and Nevada beats Boise, to keep LSU alive in the BCSCG hunt into next week (of course, assuming we beat Arky, which is a task in itself).

...hmmmm ... actually, your scenario is quite possibly in the realm of possibility ....

Nope. Nobody is saying these two things are likely but they are certainly plausible.

I dont see anyone beating Oregon before the NC game.
Probably not but these western teams have the habit of upsetting big names so we might be surprised.

If I had to rank the things we need in reverse order of probability (1 being least likely to happen, and 5th being most likely to happen), this is how I'd put it...
1. Oregon losing a game
2. Boise losing to Nevada
3. Auburn losing both games
4. LSU beating Arky
5. any team besides Oklahoma State winning Big12
If we can knock off 1-4 this week (just a partial knock-off of #3), I'd be pretty excited going into next week! FWIW, I think if Auburn loses to Bama, the house of cards starts to fall and THEY WILL lose to South Carolina.

If this happens, I'll love watching Robert Smith cry about it on National TV. Only thing that could make it better is if somehow we get to kick Ohio States arse again.

This is a pretty big one too. At the very least, a 12-1 Big 12 Champ OSU would take votes away from LSU. But I actually think they'd wind up ranked higher too.

I think Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State this week rendering the Big12 irrelevant as far as the BCSCG is concerned as the Big12 champion (either Oklahoma or Nebraska) will have 2 losses.

don't forget about the r-backs; they seem to have a knack for ruining our seasons.........or trying to ! ('02 and '07-almost !!!!)

We need the following:
auburn to lose two
Oregon to lose one
Boise to lose one
okie st to lose one
PAC 10 or big 10 winner can't use lsu not playing in championship game cause they don't play one. If okie st loses the champion will have 2 losses. Acc sucks and so does big east. If Oregon loses they fall behind us and so does Boise. By auburn losing two they fall behind us. That leaves tcu and lsu in the ship.

This scenario puts us in the BCSCG WITHOUT WINNING THE SEC. I KNOW that a school doesn't HAVE to win their conference.
THIS is my question: In 2003 I kept saying "how can Oklahoma be in the title game? They didn't even win their conference????"
I feel like I'm talking out both sides of my mouth by even WANTING any of this to happen.
That said, if we end up there, we end up there!!!!!

anyone think if we beat Ark, we jump Wisconsin in the human polls? ...right now they are ahead of us. We should... ranked team on the road.
Is there a chance that we could leap an undefeated Boise or TCU if this happens? So far the computers have consistantly bumped us up one position over the humans.

Next Friday is a huge day.

I'm a realist, and know it's a long shot ... It truly is. Hell, even if all that happens, there's a good chance Wisconsin goes over us. But it sure would be fun to still be having this discussion going into the final week of the regular season.
then let's just add in Michigan beating Ohio State, then Wisconsin wouldn't have won their conference either

The more I think about it, I don't think it is absolutely necessary for Boise to lose. Would it help? Certainly, but I think there is a fair chance LSU could pass Boise in the BCS even without Boise losing (if LSU finished one spot behind Boise in the human polls but pummels them in the computer polls, LSU will pass Boise in BCS).
But Oregon must lose once, Auburn most likely must lose twice, and somebody other than Okie State must win the Big12. And, of course, LSU has to beat Arky.
