They are leaning heavily on Texas ties for this hire, which Aranda has none.

Baylor is a much better opportunity than what Aranda was looking at a month ago (e.g. UNLV and CO St?). I didn't know why he was entertaining such offers but now it makes sense if he was considering Baylor all along. He has his current DC position paying him a ton but those two prospects also show he had others interested in him as a HC, improving his bargaining position.

I hope we don't lose him but HC at Baylor is serious gig.

I live in Waco, wife works for Baylor. Players really want McGuire but 3 years ago he was a lifetime HS head coach. His primary job with Rhule was to build relationships with TX HS coaches. Super nice guy, did a great job, but the jump to HC in B12 is a big step. Having said that, I do not think Aranda is a great fit in the Baylor Bubble culture. Very, very Baptist. Rhule's dad was a minister and he fit in great. Even Briles had a Walk with Jesus story about his parents dying on the way to one of his games. Guy Morriss was a beer-drinking Harley rider. You would have thought BU hired Satan.

What coaching changes are you hearing outside of Brady, Aranda?

Do you expect Munoz to take over as a Co-OC?

Any new position coaches?

Not a Vol hater, but you were convinced he was taking the UNLV job as well.

Is this a feeling or do you know something?

Hate to see Aranda go.

But if that’s his dream, so be it. He has been a huge asset to the LSU program. All class!

Yet he turns on the charm in recruit living rooms somehow.

Maybe that changes when he takes the reigns, but Aranda has shown little interest in recruiting here beyond the minimum amount required.

Based on Baylor sources, WILL be Aranda.

I really like Dave Aranda, but this seems like an odd fit. Is your fanbase happy hiring him?

That’s said, I hope he kills it there and sticks it to Texas while he’s at it.

My understanding is they have reached a tentative agreement.

Why do I think this tentative agreement will stick unlike the tentative agreement LSU had with Brady?

Baylor fans are very excited. Went to bed last night thinking it would be Fuente at VT or Napier at UL (Napier would have been preferred over Fuente).
