SOURCES: Billy Napier is going to stay at #Louisiana. He’s been a top candidate for several Power 5 openings this winter. Napier’s very excited about the team he has in 2020 and the direction of the program. Look for him to be a top target for many programs in next year’s cycle.

Bruce Feldman Tweet

Napier was previously thought to be the front runner for Baylor’s HC vacancy. It’s now reportedly down to Aranda and promoting from within with McGuire, their associate head coach and DE coach.

I wonder how Aranda will do as a HC. He doesn't strike me as a people person at all, and a lot of that job involves schmoozing with recruits, boosters, etc.

You provide no source for your “reportedly.” If you don’t have a link, this thread will be deleted (again).

To be fair, Saban comes off like a boring piece of shite human that hates talking to other humans in interviews.

Yet he turns on the charm in recruit living rooms somehow.

You just never know.

Yeah, I get the sense Aranda wants to become a HC because he thinks that's what he's "supposed" to do moreso than something he really wants to do.

Aranda seems very happy being the cerebral, quiet guy, who is out of the spotlight working on schemes vs. being the face of the program out schmoozing recruits, their handlers, obnoxious boosters, etc.

This is a valid question.

It’s now reportedly down to Aranda

Based on what? I have seen this nowhere. The Waco tribune doesn't even list him in their top 8 candidates.

They are leaning heavily on Texas ties for this hire, which Aranda has none.

Just throwing stuff out there, but I don't see Baylor going with a defensive minded head coach after failing with Kevin Steele awhile back. Especially in the Big 12 where they they have had some success with offense focused head coaches

Just remember My link. It tells you who has the most support. Joey McGuire. If Aranda ends up getting a HC job then good. I would kinda like to get back to the D we had under Saban and Peleni

Your 2 day old link. Is this your first coaching carousel? Baylor Insiders on premium boards have been posting a lot of favorable Aranda info today.

I kinda hope he goes and has success somewhere. He’s been a DC (and a good one at that) for us for a long time now. He deserves to move up

Yeah... that's not how he lands the top class every year.
