All I need to see is the swing and miss last night on a breaking pitch that went at least 2 feet outside the outer part of the zone and he still tried to pull it.

So you're basing your overall assessment of him on 1 pitch where he got fooled and guessed wrong? You a tough critic.

How many did he have 7 games into conference play?

He hit most of them in conference. I honestly don't know the distribution of them.

He hit his 5th HR in the 1st game of the 2nd SEC series last year. He has 3 HR this year for comparison.

He has to have less AB’s at this point this year.

He got hit by 18 in 62 games last season and he’s been his 12 times in 23.

So he’s on pace for double the HBPs.

It’s just not something he does that you can depend on consistently. That’s all.

And I like Dugas, but you don’t put someone in the 4 hole because he gets hit by a lot of pitches.

It obviously is, based on the sample size. Just like it was with the Jordan twins. It is a skill

He's hitting .320 in SEC
I believe he is 8 for 27 or .296. If you count the other 6 decent teams/games he went 5 for 25 or .200 when you combine them he is 13 for 52 or .250 batting average. I cant see how he is a 4 hole guy on lsu's team. Now Dugas batted 7 for 15 against 6 other decent teams/games or .466 average while batting only 3 for 16 or .188 average in 5 sec games and a Dugas average against all decent competition this year batting 10 for 31 or .323 against good comp.

I know Dugas average could higher because his HBP is sick but I'm just saying imo, that Dugas should be the 4 hole guy and Berry down the line up. Jmo.

Berry against good comp this year bats .250
Dugas against good comp this year bats .323

With continued good comp this year, I believe their averages will remain about the same give or take a few points.

Just sayin

I think Dugas is a ballplayer and I really like him. Like I said earlier, I like him in the 5 hole with Thompson in the 7. Sounds like you think opposite. We shall see how the rest of the season goes and hopefully both have homers and plenty rbi tonight and tomorrow.

Side note: A little context on your point about the pitch he swung and missed last night. The guy was throwing a 94mph 4 seam and then had a 90 mph cutter. Got Berry in an 0-2 count and then threw the first changeup he threw all game that started looking like an outside fastball. Berry swung thinking it would cut in like his fastballs were doing and was completely fooled. Sometimes you tip the cap to the pitcher for getting the best of you.

Also this link is my only argument when you bring up competition. Check out the arms that was on this team USA team he was facing and the numbers he put up last summer.

LINK

It is a small sample size and he could have been on a hot streak but that is still impressive.

I’m fine with switching Dugas to 5 but Berry is a switch hitter who makes contact more times than not and protects Crews.

Since he likes the opposite batting line up
doughty
morgan
crews
berry
Dugas behind berry to give berry better looks at pitches
jobert behind dugas to give dugas better looks
travinski
thompson
gio on a rh pitcher maybe bianco against lh pitching

But the biggest problem is none are hitting Left Handed Pitching. bat avg .184 that is why A&m brought 4 left handers againt Lsu , You saw Auburn bring 2 left handers back to back last night. With them batting .184 and bascially giving up about 1 to 2 errors a game and giving them runs. then here Lsu is with bascially 1 left hander in the whole starting and bull pen , and had to bring that guy off his old team, just to have one.The one thing that hurt us was coleman going down early. just my opinion
