BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Florida State men's basketball team defeated the Auburn Tigers 82-71 on Wednesday night in its first exhibition game of the season at the Ballin in Boutwell preseason event inside the historic Boutwell Auditorium.

Freshman Marcis Ponder scored 13 points and grabbed 21 rebounds to record his first double-double during his first action in a Florida State jersey. He also recorded three blocks. Ponder was one of four Seminoles to score double-digit points.

in the presser wade seems as happy as I have ever seen him in a loss. maybe he is experimenting and collecting data with not much concern about winning.

I thought dessert looked a little lost and unable to get involved. I think dioubate still lacks basketball skills, but that is ok. I think ruzic is awesome. Clark and bashit can really shoot. dent can really move with the ball.

I hope dessert gets more comfortable and they can find ways to get him the rock lower down in the post.

So you don’t know the difference between a game and practice or you didn’t know that FSU already played a game?

Did they? Or did they play an exhibition, same as us?

Looks to me like their season hasn't started.

But feel free to keep being a dickhead.

thought our guys had been practicing together too? Wasn't that the word coming out, that the players had been practicing, just didn't play in the exibitions?

That's not game action against another opponent

First time this team played together and they pushed a good team to the last basket.

I would think it gives people a little hope that we will be competitiv.

I'm hoping this is a symptom of playing against Ponder. Guy may put up Tshiebwe numbers on the glass.

Bottom line…they will be more competitive and fun to watch than what we have had the last few years.

As I have said here many times. We are a football and baseball team. All lost of us want is a team that is competitive, plays hard, is fun to watch, wins more than they lose and makes the tourney 4 out of 5 years and had a chance to make a decent run in the tourney occasionally. This is exactly what Will Wade teams bring to the table and why most of us are excited he is back.

Niang and Dessert just couldn’t get into the flow of the game. Dessert had a couple of good moves inside and Niang didn’t make huge mistakes but both were passive and kind of spectators on the court. Niang passed up 2 easy opportunities he normally would attack on. Both were just not playing at the same speed everyone else was.

I'll take your word for it. Wasn't able to watch any and the highlight video on YouTube was shite quality.

I know WW likes to play fast, but I'd be interested in seeing a Ruzic/Dessert front court a couple times a game against the right opponent.

Dude, you're the one who decided to jump in and start fricking with me when I asked a question about what someone else said. You seem to have appointed yourself grand high poombah for all things LSU basketball on this board. Quit trolling and trying to be edgy, and let people discuss and ask questions.

Your questions were answered and you decided to be obtuse and play semantics.

Yea it would depend on matchup and style I would guess.

you claimed the opposite before. you said, about the same issue of playing ruzic and desert together:

"Wade ain’t playing two centers at the same time. Sorry, these posters must have never watched a Wade coached team."

LINK

then when I said it would be like naz and KBW you still pushed back

"We have the pieces Wade needs to play the way he wants to and he’s not going to play some multiple post offense."

so now you think he may play them both? why did you argue with me then, I was comparing ruzic and dessert to naz and KBW, which I think is an apt comparison, style-wise. I guess I convinced you because now you say "it would depend on matchup and style", which is a reversal of your angrily-argued previous position.

Stop lying troll. I said they wouldn’t start together. Here’s the clarification post once you chimed in and I knew I was dealing with a lying, hypocritical, troll.

quote:

Posted by Madking 10/20/26 at 11:24 pm to jamarr Ruzic and Dessert are both “Centers”, 6-11 or better. Naz was 6-9 and a 3pt shooter who didn’t play near the basket until he was 16-17 years old. Neither Ruzic nor Dessert are 3pt shooters, they’re not going to start together, we need depth at the 5 and they’re the only two legit players we have there.

Now go fly a kite you fraud

We stay healthy and continue to make extra passes we can win 8-10 sec games.

That would be pretty disappointing actually considering the hype that this team was getting if Wade landed all of these guys. I thought this was going to be a compete for SEC regular season championship kinda talent.
