I understand one is a freshman but our linebackers need to learn how to slow their bodies down square up and make a tackle. White also missed numerous tackles by running like a chicken with his head cut off. John Battle has been getting abused the entire year. Cant cover or tackle. At the beginning of the season safety was supposed to be a strong position group. How does Battle keep his job every week with his bad play?

Read Lester’s game notes... Bakersfield gets mentioned 3-4 times and it wasn’t in a good way.

One thing Saturday definitely showed us:

Outside of WR, the team has MAJOR depth issues.

Baskerville was way over-rated coming out of high school. Package deal. Battle just plain out can't tackle. Seems timid.

Phillips being out killed LSU

SE game plan was absolutely terrible, no in game adjustments

The defense as a whole had a complete abomination when it came to tackling. Just flying around lowering the shoulder to give a big hit instead of wrapping up and tackling. The yards after contact was the difference in the game and also killed LSU in the 4th when Fla was bleeding the clock.

I wonder if Sullivan can rush the passer...

Outside of WR

We may have a ton of them on the roster, but not a damn one of them can catch a pass that hits them in the hands. On that final drive, they dropped two straight balls which would have been first downs. Burrow kept throwing it on the money past the sticks and they straight up couldn't hold on to it. Whoever the WR coach is, he needs to be fired, tarred, and feathered out of town. These WR's should be forced to catch balls from a throwing machine all week until they wear off their fingerprints. They've been pathetic all year and show no signs of improvement. I truly believe that while they were not the only cause of this loss, had they been more sure handed, LSU wins. So many drives stalled because Burrow through a perfect strike past the sticks and they couldn't hold on to the football, forcing a punt.

Not a doubt in my mind Battle and Giles cost us that game. If Battle makes those tackles we win by 10pts if Giles returns that wide open punt and not field it on the 5 we may have by 2 or more touchdowns. Those plays were huge!

Also Battle was in coverage on the tight end that caught Florida's touchdowns

Wrong. He is a true freshman, he will be a really good player for us.

Plain and simple, LSU as a program was not ready to play UF. I believe the success they were hearing about kind of inflated their egos. They just need to go to work and prepare like a champion this week and they will be fine when the final whistle blows Saturday.

Battle missed a ton of plays last year and somehow earned the starting job again... I don’t get it

I think he will too. He just isnt' ready to play this year, at least not that much.

He had good instincts on a good bit of plays, just could'nt finish the play. I'd expect those plays to be made as he gets more experience. I would say i saw promising stuff from him, and that him playing instead of Philips played a large part in us losing.

and i've been saying for quite some time now that Battle just isn't good, and i usually get downvoted to high heaven for it. He's not a kid, he's been here for 6 years, and he's not a good safety at all. He's like DJ Welter out there.

Battle is Raymond's guy.
Busch needs to step up and put an end to this nonsense.
