Why is Thompson still at SS??? Is there not anyone better with all the talent that was brought in????

Because he isn't as bad as what the rant makes him out to be. He will be just fine at SS.
He played much better defensively at the end of the season when his health was better and Johnson said he made great strides in the offseason to improve his defense even more.
Biggest player to challenge him is Gavin Guidry and I don't think him as a freshman is an upgrade over Thompson as a Junior. For reference, Thompson made 1 error in the fall scrimmages compared to Guidry with 6.
Thompson did miss some time in the fall though so he didn't get as many chances as Guidry.

Thompson supposedly made strides last fall too and we see what kind of year he had. He also produces alot of swing and misses and the HR production or average did not offset that.
I guess we will see

He had a lower K rate than Crews and Doughty last year. Of the regulars, only Morgan and Berry were lower than Thompson.
But sure, a lot of swings and misses.

If you are gonna quote me, include the whole quote and don't CNN my statement to fit your narrative please

He had the third lowest K rate in the starting line up you tard. There are no amount of qualifying statements that make what you said not retarded.
You just don't like Thompson.
You've already attempted to discount that he took a step forward last fall when in his second spring he raised his average by 30+ points, his OPB 70 points, and his SLG 40 points. He cut his k rate by 8 percentage points (a 33% drop). He boosted his walk rate from his freshman year by 5 percentage points (~40% increase). He absolutely took a step forward.

Thompson haters are going to go full force every time he makes a mistake and will not give him credit for anything he does well.
Thompson at the end of the season when he was fully healthy had significantly reduced the errors and was the most clutch hitter on the team.

I assume everyone is waiting on the PC to start and not just me right? Or is something wrong on my end?

We've already seen that you can't even be correct in hindsight.

Thompson was one of the best clutch hitters on LSU. Defense got better toward the end of the year

Assuming Milazzo is the Friday night catcher, does Skenes take at bats and we DH for Milazzo?

its so laughable how many people look back at our championship teams and the SS on those teams as some gods in the field.....yet when you show them stats, they get quite
A) thompson was not nearly as bad as people made him our to be. Not even close. he was a very good hitter and by tournament time was a really good defender
B) people just want the next shiny toy. Thompson was ranked just as high as guidry coming in, yet they want to cast him to the side because....new toy
C) overall as a team last year we were not that bad defensively. We not great but if you go and look up fielding percentages vs previous championship teams....yea not bad, not bad at all.

People just need to get used to the fact LSU baseball won’t be as good at defense as they have been previously under CPM. Say what you want about him but the man consistently put one of the best defensive teams in the country in the field.
Jay Johnson will sacrifice some defense for offense. His teams at Arizona were never great fielding teams.

The coach of our team has said ad nauseum this offseason Thompson is our best SS by a mile basically. There has been zero hesitation for him when someone has brought up SS him saying Thompson is the starter.
Thompson had just 1 error the last 11 games (2 in last 16 games) of last season, he settled in very nicely towards end of season defensively. He had just 1 error in like 15 scrimmages this past fall, Guidry who you would expect to push him at SS, had 6 by comparison in like 22 scrimmages.
Give him a shot, dont just dwell on how he started last season, he's been playing good ball defensively ever since end of 2022 season and through the fall.

He Hit .286 with like a 15-16% K rate. You don’t know ball.

I think he realized last year that how big of a step up the SEC is. You cant win the league without good defense. Johnson is the team's infield coach now.
