Ulloa is hitting 96?

I think he touched 96 once maybe twice but mainly sat 95 mph

Nice job Doge!

My thoughts…

Pitching

The biggest surprise for me today was Ulloa. He was 93-96 and looked like a guy that will pitch meaningful innings this year. Was throwing a secondary pitch 85-88 that was hard to pick up and an 83-84 mph slider.

Thought Coleman looked good in his 3+ innings. He hit 95 once and 93 a few times with 4 k’s and induced a lot of fly balls.

Anderson looked pretty good today…especially in the 1st inning. Noticed both Anderson and Coleman pitched inside to hitters a lot today. Bingham launched Anderson’s first attempt at a change up over left field bleachers. Anderson hit 94 a couple times and his CB is a plus pitch.

Little, Moffett both look like continued works in progress. Kade Woods velo was down a bit today. Walked a few too many for my liking.

Position Players

Pearson is currently on fire. Best preseason as a Tiger at the plate…by far. Hope it translates to hot start.

Kling showed off his plus arm today by throwing out 2 guys trying to advance to 3rd base from 2nd on fly balls to center. His arm is a little better than Crews imo.

Defense

Looked solid today. Anderson had a throwing error fielding a bunt. Otherwise solid

Looking forward to the season.

Kade's grandparents came out to watch him pitch and were sitting right next to Scuba. Good people.

Pearson a single away from the cycle? Is that correct?

Yes. If I remember correctly he had a HR, 3B, 2B and a HBP today. Excellent day at the plate for Josh today!

Nothing to disagree with you on that assessment. It was my first time seeing Ulloa pitch. He's got good stuff and mixes it up well. Kept batters guessing most of his outing.

I'm also disappointed in Woods' outing. Just couldn't hit his spots with any of his pitches consistently.

If Little and Moffett can locate pitches and find their command, I think they both have a chance to contribute to this pitching staff. They both throw gas and have outstanding arm talent.

My 2nd time seeing Ulloa. His velo was up today from the fall. He was consistently 94-95 and hit 96 more than once. That will likely tick up as season warms up. He struck out White, Jones, and Mitchell today.

At worst, I see him as a guy they bring along that will come in situationally on weekends. He started getting touched up in his 3rd inning of work today.

Pearson’s triple and double both off Anderson. HR was off an 87 mph pitch off of Little. Crushed it.

Scuba doesn’t want too much talking around him while he’s keeping his book. At least that’s what he told me. Ha!

And I like to watch pitching from behind the plate.

Which is a major prop to Kling because Crews had one of the better arms I’ve ever seen at LSU

Not sure LSU has had a center fielder with Kling's arm. Crews probably closest IMO, but perhaps I'm forgetting somebody.

To me he has a RF arm playing CF. He's a true 5 tool guy.
