Hard to believe this is the worst catchers room we’ve had in the last 10 years? It’s concerning.

It's not.

Luis Hernandez
With only 24 appearances behind the plate in 3 college seasons.. how does he handle the rigors of being an everyday catcher (if it comes to that)
Also as a reminder for everyone there will be no "opening night".. as first pitch is set for 2pm

I don't think it's too hard to believe. Our projected started, not just by Adam but also others, didn't catch last year and hasn't really done much catching in his last two years (most of his catching starts came his freshman year IIRC). Now we do have Arrambide who has a very high ceiling, but he has not seen a single live college pitch yet.
I think the grading is fair, and it can go both directions. If Hernandez adjusts well to SEC pitching, holds his own behind the plate, and Arrambide continues to excel early, then the grade is too low. But there's also a world where we have defensive issues behind the plate and players don't adjust too well to the SEC pitching.

How dare you question the head scout for the Yankees.

Curious how Adam would grade what we actually got out of the catchers last year. 22% of the team’s homers and RBIs, but the defense was bad. 2 plays directly led to 2 SEC losses. We gave half as many HBP as opponents last year, but 20% more wild pitches. 7 passed balls to opponents 3. It was ugly. Neal was a big part of that.

What would your power ratings be for the rest of the catchers?
I had Priester 70 and Arrambide 70

quote:Luis was an everyday catcher growing up in Puerto Rico and has very much impressed Jay and Josh at that position since he’s been at LSU. I think Jay mentioned him by name 19 times in his media day press conference, which goes to show you how highly the staff thinks about Luis.

Damn blindness got me again. I read anchoring as meaning to keep it on top.
At least you know my intentions were good.
