He has been fairly aggressive in scrimmages. I know some of that is to get catchers and pitchers work defending the run. But between guys like Stanfield, Curiel, Dickinson, Brown, and Milam to an extent, I think we can put pressure on teams with base running. That's my hope at least.

1. We get eliminated in semifinals of Omaha
If this happens and Cheer doesn't go to Omaha, I am absolutely blaming him.

3. Surprise pitcher of the year, Mayers
I do not know if this would be a surprise but Conner Ware becomes the best pitcher out the pen.
Prediction Curiel starts getting compared to Duplantis during the Frisco series.
Jones leads the SEC in RBIs

Shores just has the make up to have the higher ceiling if he can put it together.
Anderson has a ceiling just as high.

I like those takes but I'm thinking more Evans than Rizy as closer.
I can see that also. I just lean more towards Rizy because of the 6'9" presence on the mound. 95+ coming from 3/4 slot will feel like its coming from the 3rd base dugout creating some very uncomfortable at bats.

Maybe so, I wouldn't argue it. I'm just saying from a natural velocity standpoint with Shores.

I think I'll trust the coaches who eat, sleep and breathe baseball to make that determination. Whether or not he keeps the Friday night job remains to be seen, but apparently they think he's the best man for the job right now based on what they've seen in the off season.
Yes, we all know that the coaches know better than fans, you don’t necessarily need to explain that. What he’s saying is that he hopes Shores returns to form so that he can take over that Friday night role. Shores was better his freshman year than Anderson was last year.

Jones ends the season with 10+ stolen bases

LHP on average throw about 2mph less than RHP. I would argue Anderson’s stuff is more rare but at worst they are equals

I can see 10 plus stolen bases for Jones.
This team is built a little different. Jones is the only real power hitter unless Frey or Priester are in the lineup. We also have more speed this year. So more aggressive base running is likely.

I do believe Dickinson said he had more trouble with Rizy than anyone.

Another prediction a pitcher on this team emerges with this kind of attitude. Either Guidry, Ware, or Noot.
Posted on 2/12/25 at 10:18 am to Conman23
Guidry will definitely show some aggressive emotions. Evans has been calm but he has some dog in him.

Hang in there Wild...won't be long now.

I’m curious as to who you hope and should be the Friday night ace if not Anderson?
Not disagreeing with you, but just curious of your opinion because it seems like LSU has a few pitchers that could potentially be ace worthy.

If this team gets to the semis at Omaha, they will win it.

Love the fire that Guidry brings to the game when he is on the mound.
BUT His stuff plays one time through an order max on a good day, I think he will settle in as set up guy who comes in for some very meaningful innings but will be a short leash. When he gets hit he gets hit hard and often.

Regarding our transfers, I think there are going to be alot of bumps in the road with guys taking a little longer to adjust to the SEC compared to what we're used to.
Previously, transfers who we've counted on as immediate contributors came from good conferences and had the experience of facing good, sometimes elite, competition (Berry, White, Holman, Jump).
Other than Stanfield at Auburn, the vast majority of transfers this year are coming from smaller schools and have faced sub-par competition.
I think we are going to see more growing pains than many are expecting.

Cowan and Ware have Herring type years. God forbid but I could see one of the two taking shores spot in the rotation if he doesn't re-find his groove from TJ
Frey solidifies himself as the DH against LHP and hits 10 homeruns
I like the pearson take, but I'm skeptical
Stanfield hits over .300
Hernandez goes on to be our most reliable and most played catcher
Beck hits his way into a good bit of playing time (not everyday)
Dorsey becomes our shut down closer
Schmidt takes his early lumps but becomes our "4th starter" (midweek and tourney games if made it through our other starters). My first take still stands. If shores sticks in the rotation, CJJ will want to hold ware and cowan for later in the game instead of being a 4th starter
