Likely yes. He’s promising these pitchers that they’ll be able to compete for roles. Likely knowing it won’t go in their favor, but it’s what you have to do to keep them around.

There’s less moving parts in the field, especially after the next wave of guys depart. But he’ll have to give guys opportunities to see how they fit.

The coach isn't batting so it can't be his approach. Philosophy maybe.

What if he is not as great a batter as you think he is?

Same thing. The coach is telling the team what he wants their approach to be. It won’t work for every player. Yet when it doesn’t work, he tells them to double down on it. It’s funny y’all think that doesn’t have an impact.

I think he’s a solid 0.300 hitter with speed who can be even better when healthy. Is that bad? Not worth starting?

If he gets more at-bats, he is not a .300 hitter

He’s a career 0.292 hitter. Wtf are you talking about?

He hit .275 as a true freshman, was hitting .351 in 2020 before the season was cancelled, and hit .318 this year.

He can be a .300 hitter. He's already proven that.

It blows my mind how ignorant many LSU baseball fans appear to be

I hear the kid from Live Oak who's currently signed with a JC will be getting a serious look from the Tigers. I think he was supposed to be a top 10 round guy who slipped and went undrafted

Hearing from where? Just curious. I was told two things kept him from D1. Didn't have the grades and wanted quickest path to MiLB. Either drafted out of high school or drafted after one year of JUCO.

Look Mr. Digiacomo, I’m sorry this is offending you but we need more than just a few soft ground balls for singles and 33% strikeout rate with a 10% walk rate.

Didn't Gio have two HRs in one game this year? He has some power.

His biggest problem has always been his approach. A new coach can fix that.

I've erased this from my mind. It didn't actually happen.

As bad as that was starting Safford in the Regionals rivaled that.
After 50 games, wd go with a young kid because he played on turf in HS. The poor guy was completely over matched.

Paul’s tinkering has worked a few times in the past but the last couple of years had gotten out of hand. Still not having defined roles and a set lineup in May and June is a little ridiculous

There’s tinkering and there’s butchering. PM butchered the line up.
Day one he had no blue.
Later on he made moves born out of panic.
Even in the playoffs he would not pick a DH, support the kid, and let him play. The DH candidates knew every game was s tryout.

Not many teams have a set lineup in May because there is no preseason. Teams figure out their lineups until it works. CPM gets no love for what he did in 2009. I mean, we don’t win a title if he doesn’t move LeMahieu to 2B, Nola to SS, and Schimpf to LF, which he did in late April against SELU, the rest was history.

He also moved Dean up in lineup and Ochinko hit 4th for the third game of the championship, which was also brilliant.
