Early relief today did not get the job done. No shame in dropping a tightly contested game/series on the road to a very good all around team. Regroup for next weekend. The bottom half of the order is what it is.

He had the same terrible approach at the plate but he wasn't pinch hit for. I think not getting in front of the ball in Kentucky's first big inning was probably what made the final decision.

hopefully jones getting benched was exclusively to send a message, which i think it is
i dont think PM actually believe yocom is worth a damn
i caught a couple of his at bats yesterday and he still looks so awful against anything that moves

why not tyler moore?
left handed pitcher
I am pretty sure that Moore's avg against LHP is actually higher than his avg against RHP.

What gets me, is that if Hanover doesn't freak out and try to steal second earlier on, we'd be in the 10th inning right now.

ETA: why was he taken out?

diff ball park my arse, we lost because we need 15 hits a ball game against good teams to win..............ky has better hitting than we do and the average speaks for itself

Or Nola's poor decision to try and take home when the ball was 6-feet from home plate.....

He took some chances in a very important game that didn't quite work out. I would've liked to win the game, but I can't hate on the youngsters getting some crunch time AB's. We fought pretty damn hard after getting skulled yesterday. The sun will come up tomorrow.
I agree and I am not coach bashing. Just pointing out that he pushed the wrong buttons today.

Let Mainieri know then, but that was clearly the answer to the question.

yeah a couple of bad basing running moves on the player's themselves i would assume.
i'm not even upset with this series tho and i feel good about this season.

Congratulations Rhymes! .500 today and 4-4. That kid alone is a silver lining on this gray cloud that's hanging over all your heads right now.

Slaid was pretty much the only pinch hitter left.

Should have been the move. Diddier could have went to 2B if we scored.
Do we even know for sure they were both on the trip? With all of the pitchers and position players we saw in the games this weekend there couldn't have been many roster spots left open.

I know you weren't. Just saying Fields (although a tough weekend) is proving himself. One more guy to step up would make this team pretty darn tough.

Season isn't over, but LSU will have played Florida, Kentucky, and USC away from home. Right now these are 3 of the top 4 in the SEC, and the 4th team is LSU. It looks like the season may finish in that order too. LSU got crapped on in the scheduling department, but we are still in good position 6 series into the season.
