Why didn't Deichmann tag up as well?! Horrible base running!

The numbers pretty much say don't do it... almost ever.

But tRant and baseball in general don't like those stats. At the end of last season I posted an analysis of stolen bases and showed that they had zero - ZERO - effect on the outcome of a game in two seasons... but I got the down votes rained down.

That bunt didn't bother me at all. We hadn't done a whole lot before that. Sometimes even a sac bunt can spark something. And I'm not Team Bunt.

I'll disagree with you on stolen bases, at the collegiate level. There is still going to be an immeasurable level of pressure that aggressive baserunning applies to young pitchers, catchers, and middle infielders. We have the athletes to do it, I say give the green light.

I don't like a bunt so early, but other variables specific to matchups change the way you look at things. Maybe a struggling fastball hitter is up vs a breaking ball pitcher. Or someone terribly slow is on first... but this type of discussion is what's fun about baseball.

This guy gets it. I'm glad we posted some runs.

And no offense but those stats, even if right, defy common sense.
