Maybe I'm wrong... when did slaughter get benched? Either way, you can look at him being the regular 1st baseman, so a win-win in PM's mind.

Well he won't come up for 8 more hitters. And who knows, if it's a pivotal at bat someone could pinch hit for him. But for now you get him at 1st for two innings before his spot comes up.
