Two things happened on that play he held up to not get hit by ball and should have been held at 3rd.
2nd was the runner came around first and you can see him slow up because he has no idea where the coach is.

It's Mainieri's philosophy. We have always ran into a ton of outs on the bases, from Javi to Will to Nolan. It's Paul Mainieri that doesn't realize that real teams can throw and catch. Not every team we play is like Fordham and Southern.
