Did you watch the play?? In no way did the receiver pick or screen the DB. He was grabbed by his DB and fell to the ground, the other DB had to then run around them both. It may have turned to a pick play if he had not been grabbed and forced down, but the bottom line is that there was no pick. Bama has no one but themselves to blame on that final play.

Could not agree more. Sad part is that nothing will change. The helmet to helmet on Williams was explained away by the TV officiating expert as'he turned his head at the last minute' or some such. It is laughable. We are watching a spearing by the gump defender with our own eyes and this knucklehead says it is a legal hit. The Karate chop to the neck was also targeting, but not for the gumps.

Officials let them play. Missed calls on both sides.

The officials were not calling the pick play, so Clemson kept running the pick play. Pretty smart I guess.

In all fairness the PI call in the end zone at the end of the game was a bullsh!t call and Clemson could have easily got called for a pick on the TD..

The frick go back and watch those plays. DB got beat and grabbed the receiver around the waist. Pick play Bamas Dbs hand checking st the line of scrimmage causes the pick for his guy.

How many times did the refs try to kill BaMas momentum by blowing plays dead and rev I Ewing the previous play?

None.

Clemson on the other hand...

See, this is why I normally mute the TV. Completely insults my Asperger's. I know what I see.

Still doesn't top our game where our QB slid feet first, was targeted, and no call. SLID FEET FIRST. I get annoyed when the player's safety is compromised for the agenda. That's when I stop watching.

Didn't see that but read about it on Twitter. Apparently there were three or four like that. Oh well, it is what they do. Only part of the entertainment factor that rubs me wrong.

I do agree that Bama should have been called for those plays in question.

However, I do recall that Clemson linebacker (#10) hitting a Bama receiver high-ish over the middle. He put his helmet into the face mask of the receiver and that guy's mouthpiece went flying. I believe it was Ridley or Stewart that got rocked. That MAY have been one that could have been called targeting a defenseless player.

I don't think that one was called because the brunt of the hit wasn't high. He made a form tackle and their heads collided, but he didn't "target" the Alabama receiver high.

You're right. And maybe because he didn't really launch at the guy either played a part in the no call, but just pointing out that it was potentially a "no call" on a high-hit that went Clemson's way.

Edit: especially since, I believe, by defenition that receiver was defenseless at the time.

I'm not sure what some of you think a pick is and when it should be called.
It's called when it is blatantly obvious that the reciever creates contact with the DB and pretty much blocks him without ever looking at his QB. For it not to get called, you simply have to not be a blatant idiot about it. When you see it called, it's usually very very obvious.
Can you see how blatantly obvious the two ND WR's block the DB's? Now had this pass been made behind the line of scrimmage, it would be ok, but it wasn't.

The first pick play, the contact was made with the guy guarding him, then he turns to the qb and the other DB runs into him.
Couldn't find the gif, but this picture shows the WR ready to catch a ball that is already thrown. He made zero contact with the DB. The DB ran into him after he had already squared his shoulders to his qb and was waiting for a pass. Sure he's designed to pick him, but there's nothing illegal about not making contact with a defender and waiting for a pass, then a defender runs into you. Found the gif.

The second pick play, the DB threw the WR on the ground from the get go. hell you could almost call PI on it. The DB didn't even give him a chance to set up the pick. and for it to be a pick play, he has to pick the guy that's guarding the other WR, not the DB thats covering him.

Also, I didn't know you could tackle people to block them to create the edge, as OJ Howard did on Scarborough's first TD run.

Nicely done. The gumps are bawling about losing and frequently reference the poor officiating. What a bunch of whiney mouths. Let them stew in their own juice. Here's to an LSU win over that group in November.

I saw that which reminded me of the blatant holding noncalls on Hurts TD run against LSU. So typical. Howard tackles a defender, but nothing to see there folks. Move along.

That's rich....they get away with murder EVERY game and last night they tried to pull what they pulled by knocking the QB out... ala Texas...that should have been and ejection, and there was a ton of holding on the Hurts TD just like against LSU....
Crazy entitled assholes. Find something else to bitch about...
