McCarron, Yeldon, Cooper might be enough.

No, no, my friend. It's all about the lines. If what you suggested were true then teams like Okie State last year would be champs. I'm not saying Bama won't be back. If they are, though, they'll have great rebuilt lines.

If Bama beats A&M in week 3, they pretty much have another NC appearance locked up.

They could easily lose in the SECCG too which likely knocks them out of the NC game.

Interesting....I thought we were the only team that was going to have new players next year. This is phenominal to learn.

Much of it has to do with leadership and continuity. Bama kept all of its "starters" they are losing until their senior seasons, while several, if not all of them, could have left last year for the NFL. It gave the underclassmen one more full season of development, maturity and experience.

Bama has at least two All-SEC, All-American and high round draft picks returning for the senior seasons at key positions, namely, McCarron and Mosley. Fluker and Lacy have not declared their intentions.

Our early defections will hurt next season. And, we are still waiting on Faulk.

I am not saying LSU will not be good next year because we will be. We should expect growing pains and some losses.

I agree. We likely will experience growing pains and lose a couple of games. My point was just that Bama will experience the same. This year was a little different for them (see losing a lot of players last year) because they returned incredible lines.

Knowing that line play is one of, if the not the most, important determination of success, I kinda like our situation better than theirs next year.

So does this mean everyone is done declaring?

This D for LSU was already very young and needed more time to mature and yet most of it is leaving early. So now we get to trot more "green" players out there. The talent is there, but some of you think just because they wear purple and gold they are going to produce the day the step on the field.

Anyway, BAMA is favorite to win again and I will go grab some chik fil a tix again. Maybe we'll get to play GaTech again this year.

Doesn't matter. They could lose 75% of the starters and still win the MNC.

FIFY. That's a more realistic statement.

i appreciate your effort there Quagmire, but it is of no use. There is no room for logic or common sense, or football sense in some cases.

I believe LSU is losing more underclassmen than Bama.

Bama takes a big step back next year because of these loses.

No, they don't. There's a reason why they won 3 out of 4

There's a coaching and talent gap between the programs which is leading to this disparity.

The most important gap, scheduling, is the one we have least control over. In 2012, if Bama played @ UF and vs USC and we played @ Mizzou and vs. UT, they lose one more game, we win one more game and are in Atl. If we play vs. UGA in the SECCG and the SEC protects the game's loser like they did UGA this year, this exact same Bama team could conceivably be playing in the Cotton Bowl.

The new guys are experienced. They know how to bring down defenders with no one noticing.

Why are you assuming that Bama loses one of those games? Or that we win?

The only thing directly in our control is beating Bama, and we didn't do it. Last year we did, and that's a legitimate gripe, but if we don't beat them int he regular season we don't get to complain about them going ahead of us, regardless of scheduling.

Miles is the only coach to beat Saban 3 times and back to back. I think we are just fine.

I think people underestimate Bama's oline importance. They give AJ 10 seconds to throw the ball and give LAcy/Yeldon giant holes to run through.

To the trained eye and listener it's definitely not underestimated. But to the general viewer people see Lacy and AJ making plays and are blown away.

The key to all of USC's earlier success was their O-Line. Those guys would open holes for Bush that a Mac Truck could comfortably roll through.

With the departure of those guys, you'll see a decline in the quality of Bama football on the offensive side unless they reload with equal talent.
