Alabama lost 7 starters on defense in 2011. They didn't seem to have too much trouble winning it again this year.

We'll be losing 7 major contributors on defense this year, yet I doubt we'll see the same success next year that Alabama experienced this year.

There's a coaching and talent gap between the programs which is leading to this disparity.

Alabama's defense was not the best in the country this year at all. They had issues with 3rd down early on and gave up plenty of yards to LSU and A&M. We plug and play on defense when you have the talent of LSU and Bama. Our defense will be fine as will theirs every year with these coaching staffs.

Offensive starters on the line and at QB is where you see the most negative impact. We bring all of ours back and they lose their 3 best.

I am scared shitless of Amare Cooper though. Kid is really, really good.

I think people underestimate Bama's oline importance.

Might be the best o-line ever. It's not too often you see 4 1st round draft picks on 1 line.

Bama takes a big step back next year because of these loses.

The last time Alabama lost 3+ starting offensive lineman, they won the national title the next year (2009).

That 2008 line was not what this one is. This line carried their offense last year and this year. It was the backbone to running game and absurd pocket protection of AJ.

ETA:

In fact, Barrett Jones started for the first time in 2009 didn't he? That dude is the jedi master of their Oline.

Not starters. Ware & Ford were behind Hill and Blue for that matter. Downs could potentially be called a starter but played behind Freak a lot this year.

I just don't see why McCarron would return. He already has 2 NC plus this year, the qb class is really weak.

So Bama will reload but LSU won't?

There's no reloading for our offense we just suck. But for our defense yes. Their offense is what sets them apart from us.

Who's going to beat them? Their schedule is a joke. A&M and LSU are the only two teams that have a shot at beating them.

If Bama beats A&M in week 3, they pretty much have another NC appearance locked up.

I hope AJ bails too, but I bet Saban gets him to stay for a possible 3peat.

You guys got to realize. No matter how many players Alabama loses, they will win every national championship for the rest of their lives. We need to deal with this and face the fact we'll ALWAYS be worse than Alabama and we'll always be underachievers.

Because he'll disappear in the NFL. He'll be all the talk next year and has the chance to do something no one in the history of the game has done.

McCarron, Yeldon, Cooper might be enough.

So you claim to be a Tiger fan but you're already claiming defeat in a game that's 10 months away, against one of our biggest rivals, that we were within one drive of beating this year, in a place we historically play well.

Got it

Did I say LSU was going to lose to Alabama?

I see LSU losing 2-3 next year. If we beat Bama and we are their only loss, guess what? They win the West, beat whoever the East wants to sacrifice, and play for another title.

I said LSU has a chance to beat them. Do you want me to guarantee victory? Would that make you happy?

So?

6 are juniors and they all are projected to go in the first 3 rounds.

Doesn't matter. They could lose 75% of the starters and still contend for the MNC.
