What I remember most is after the screen pass TD UGA scored to go up late you’d think the crowd would be deflated but it got louder as if so what we’re still going to win.

It’s 100% being reffed out.

They don’t want the violence in the sport.

This particular generation of athletes just doesn't have that mentality. It's not as fun to watch, and unfortunately, this brand of football may be dead.

Nah. The game just changed. Players are smaller and faster.

There are still dedicated athletes who sacrifice a lot to be great. And with the 7 vs 7 leagues and coaching camps, kids are going into college much better trained than before.

One of the bigger takeaways from the 2011 season to me was Spencer Ware was a completely different back after he got suspended for the Auburn game. If he never gets suspended I would have liked to see what his production and impact he would have had at the end of the year. He was a dog. Loved that season.

If you want to see some carnage, check out the videos of LaRon Landry's safety blitzs back in the day. Nowadays they'd probably put a baw in jail for what he did to JP Wilson.

How it used to be.

You just don't see defense like that anymore in cfb really. I think the offenses are so much more advanced. I mean the only time you get low scoring games is good defense vs incompetent. offense .

Completely disagree.

It’s not because the offenses are so advanced.

Defenses have been neutered by the new rules with targeting and other penalties.

You can’t touch the quarterback anymore and pass interference is every other play.

Every bit hit is targeting and ejection.

Defensive lines can’t shift anymore, etc.

You put that defense with any of the past 3 offense . Youd be 3 straight undefeated seasons

The athletes had bodies that our present guys wouldn't recognize.
Compare the body of Laron Landry at safety with our present skinny DB's. It is no wonder they don't know how or unwilling to engage in a real tackle.

Hell we aren't allowed to move our defensive linemen without it being a penalty!

Such a bullshite rule, especially if there isn’t any yelling or clapping done by the defense.

Will they make a rule to where offense can’t use hard counts to try to draw the defense offsides? Pretty much the same idea.

I was at the 9-6 game in Tuscaloosa. The sounds from the hits (both teams) on the field were crazy! Never will forget that game.

I was also at the BCS Championship rematch game - a game I wish I could forget!

Les is not coaching because of his off field issues.

LSU is so soft

We really are. Physically manhandled by a finesse West Coast team and freaking Nichols. So what has happened? Maybe we do need Moffit back?

We also appear to be lacking mental toughness. Don’t see the fire and focus we used to have. And in college athletics, that makes a big difference.

Only Florida had killers on their team.

Give me any of those athletic and tough les miles defenses now.

Let’s get something straight here. Les Miles didn’t have shite to do with the defense. That should be obvious to you considering what happened when he hired Malvetto and Steele. He did hire three really good DCs that produced the tough defenses we are talking about, though. Aranda just never had an opportunity to right the ship until O took over.

Are we better off now than we were under Les? I remember that was the whole reason for firing him. We’d be a lot better overall if we moved on, everyone said.

The revisionist history and bad memories around the end of Miles’ tenure, completely outside of his off the field bullshite that would have eventually blown up, is fricking insane.

Seriously? Top 5 class followed up with a top 3 incoming? Recruiting seems to be fully back on track at this point.

We also had Jarret Lee and Jefferson. The defense was awesome though.

Truth, but it's also truth that both QB's were horribly mismanaged that season. We can debate "why didn't Les put Lee in in the 2nd half" forever, but I don't know that it would have mattered. The problem was clearly the offensive game plan and not the players (at least, not exclusively the players).

The end of that season and that loss was the beginning of the end for Les and his archaic offensive style at LSU. That team had the potential to be one of the best to ever wear purple and gold - both because of Les and despite him as well.

We’d be miserable with that team now. We’ve gotten spoiled getting great QB’s and some of you have forgotten just how frustrating it is to have a QB that cannot be a QB

We'd only be miserable with that team if it came with Mile's 1980's offensive style as well. That team would kill in today's game with better offensive coaching.
