without a doubt had they won the title definitely in the argument for best team of all time. Beat every opponent besides Bama that year by at least 13 points.

The problem was their huge offensive deficiencies were utterly exposed on 1/9/12, confirming what many people kept warning fans about during the season.

Why I still pick 2006 LSU over 2011 LSU. If they played 100 times, I think 2006 wins 55-60 or so of the games.

I was at that Bama game. Man that was an awesome experience. We were in the LSU section right aroudn the band. Michael Ford's non TD......man that was something else. We were so sure we won at that moment. The INT that Reid took from the Bama tight end happened right in front of us.

I thought it was Kenny Hilliard along the left sideline?

Jarrett Lee was doing pretty damn well until Les Miles pulled the rug out from under him and replaced him with his boy Jordan Jefferson.

I know Les had his issues but his teams were hard as nails. I think we almost killed VA Tech when they came in. We had dogs playing. I'm not a Kelly hater but his teams seem soft as Charmin

Rules in favor of offenses to give the fans more “entertainment” have impacted the way a defenseman’s mentality/nastiness can be stripped from you. Just as our world and society is trying to emasculate men, total BS. You don’t want to see young men’s lives or careers ruined but it’s the chance you take. It’s a rough world and game, the toughest survive.

Are we better off now than we were under Les? I remember that was the whole reason for firing him. We’d be a lot better overall if we moved on, everyone said.

100% Yes, tell me again why isn't Les coaching another team right now if he was so great?

It was time to move on from Les. At the end of his tenure, we weren't a good program. In many ways, mainly recruiting and depth, we aren't in a better place, but maybe we'll get back to that level with Kelly.

Idk. We certainly don’t have the defenses, killers, physicality, and depth that Les’s teams had. Outside of 2019, we’ve struggled, and our floor has been lowered since. The floor under Les was 8-4 and that wasn’t really acceptable. Now we seem to be content with lots of 8-4 seasons, with 7-5, and 6-6 as being okay too. Seems like the standard has gone down since Les left.

Yeah i agree. The scoring isn’t as eventful because you sure the other team will answer with one of their own. In the nfl every team has a QB now with all pro receivers except like 4 teams…I miss watching the Seahawks defense the last great one

Best team ever to not win a title?

We're biased, but there is a lot of support for it.

Just take the Tennessee game - it wasn't like we mashed them. Less than 400 yards of total offense. The defense did get 2 INTs, but there were no fumbles lost by either team. There was no crazy ST play.

It was just offensive efficiency and defensive dominance. The score was 38-7, but might as well have been 49-0 or equivalent. There was no sign of life from Tennessee.

LSU had only 3 drives in the 2nd half, all ending in rushing touchdowns. Those 3 drives combined for 38 plays, 230 yards, 21:29 of game clock.

That epitomized the team that year with routine opponents. Against Bama, well that was the Game of the Century (tm), the sequel of which was in 2019. OBJ and Juice were on that team, as well as Keke and Honeybadger of course, but the team wasn't necessarily filled with athletic freaks, but as you say, "killers". We'll likely never know all the details of why it went down on 1/9/2012 the way it did, but I'll bet you dollars to navy beans it wasn't 100% football-related.

Conspiracy theory: [ON] off

ETA: Could that really have been 12 1/2 years ago?

Hell we aren't allowed to move our defensive linemen without it being a penalty!

NFL draft picks, and individual NFL careers in general really have no relevance when determining who was a better COLLEGE football team.
