I have never had a higher moment, as an LSU fan, than when Michael Ford took that pitch in OT around the left corner and (seemingly) into the endzone. Turned out he had stepped out of bounds and we had to wait for the FG.

My next best moment was when Clyde caught the pass in 2019 to make it 33-13 in Tuscaloosa going into halftime.

Both of those moments felt like we had attained a sure national championship as well as denying one to Bama. 2011 turned out poorly, of course, but in the moment it was great.

Best team ever to not win a title? They beat every team they played that year while beating 3 of the 4 BCS bowl winners.(Alabama, Oregon, West Virginia) All without a serviceable QB.

Give me any of those athletic and tough les miles defenses now. The mentality of just 15 years ago is being reffed out, coached out and not taught...the world will change and so will the kids that conprise these teams.

without a doubt had they won the title definitely in the argument for best team of all time. Beat every opponent besides Bama that year by at least 13 points.

We just need Holly back on the roster and we're right there again.

You just don't see defense like that anymore in cfb really. I think the offenses are so much more advanced. I mean the only time you get low scoring games is good defense vs incompetent. offense .

Like Kentucky vs Georgia last weekend. That's great d vs bad o

We also had Jarret Lee and Jefferson. The defense was awesome though.

It's not just LSU. This particular generation of athletes just doesn't have that mentality. It's not as fun to watch, and unfortunately, this brand of football may be dead. It starts on Defense and teams are no longer allowed to set the tone of the game on Defense without being penalized.

The other awesome part of that season was that team took down polar opposite styles of offensive play.

You had Oregon with massive spread, speed, and lots of motion.

Bama with stellar defense and power offensive style.

It didn’t matter what the opponent brought, we were up for it.

I would say the Miami team that lost to Penn State probably has that honor. Look at the roster.

Miss that type of ball! That truly was LSU football atleast in my mind. Never would’ve thought we’d have a defense be so soft like we got now. If you told me what I know now I would’ve laughed in your face.

I love how you guys are saying you miss that type of ball and when 21-0 happened we were saying how much we all hated our offense. Which started a pattern of hating all our Les Miles offenses.

We’d be miserable with that team now. We’ve gotten spoiled getting great QB’s and some of you have forgotten just how frustrating it is to have a QB that cannot be a QB

I’d argue it’s more frustrating watching your D be carved up at will. At least to me. It’s fricking demoralizing. I still love pound the rock hard defense football even if the QB isn’t throwing for 450 yards and 5TDs.

I don’t think any team these days has a defense like those 2 did back then. Miss that era!

It's equally frustrating watching everyone miss tackles. I think that purely from an entertainment perspective, most people just enjoy watching hard hitting power football over this modern style of throwing it all over the field.

Also the games were tighter. Every TD mattered 3x what they do today bc they were so rare. TOs mattered more. The Les Miles era, however frustrating, had some of the most entertaining games you'll ever see.

Look at football today. Last night during falcons vs eagles, the eagles scored with just over a minute left to take the lead. But everyone knew there was too much time left and Atlanta would just go right down the field and either tie it up with a FG or score a TD to win. So it was hard to get excited about the Eagles TD. But then Atlanta scored with 30+ secs left and it felt like that was too much time and the Eagles were gonna score again. Hurts threw a pick, but it had felt like whoever had the ball last would win. The TDs just don't matter as much anymore and are less exciting
