Last time we played back-to-back SEC road games was 2019. We all know how that season ended.

I'm assuming those 8 were pretty good teams.

Hah or their competition was something like Baylor and Kansas. 2019 LSU was incredible. But we already know this team isn’t them. I mean, look at USC this year.

I’ll make my prediction, I think the Aggies win 27-24. It’s going to be a classic!

We don’t have to win both games, we only need to win the second game. How many of those teams won the second game?

I mean, we already know that LSU is pretty good in the second game of back-to-back road games, so never mind.

...but the point of the thread is to look at records of SEC teams in back to back road games. Teams that have to do that usually don't win both games.
Conversely, teams facing that scenario that DO win back-to-back SEC road games typically go on to post-season glory.

Given that this is aTm, at Kyle, they probably have a bit of an advantage. But LSU also comes in with a chip on their shoulder and playing better football at this point in the season.

So far this season, it's always been a "two out of three" scenario for the Tigers: they do well in two out of three categories (running, passing, and defense), and manage to find a way to victory (except for the first game, which has been our "FURK" moment for the last five years, so I'll toss that one out).

Our defense is playing pretty much lights out right now (except for the occasional DOH big play), and Weigman doesn't really scare me. Moss will be a load, but take him away or reduce his effectiveness then I like our chances - so for me it's a push.

I'll take LSU for even money, my friend.

I didn't think LSU would win all three of Ole Miss, Ark and A&M but they have a chance

I think this win over A&M is more important then even Bama at this stage
You want to have that tiebreak over Aggies

A team has only won back to back SEC games 3% of the time the last three seasons. A&M has won 0% of their ranked matchups in evening home games this year.

Any stat can look good or bad.

It's not like they are flying across the country like the Big 10 schools.

sigh. It's a thing whether you choose to believe it or not. back to back road games never fair well for those that have to do so in the SEC. Just look at the record.
I got a few comments in begging somebody to call you on your obvious bias.

You listed that above first, then somebody told you LSU is 8-0 when both are AP ranked, then you stated some crap about the past 3 home games for you, COMPLETELY disregarding that they were not good on good meetings.

Im going to tell you like i told Arkansas folks, these aren't magical superstitious games. Arkansas playing LSU close over the last 5 years was a direct result of things currently happening that year. Before that LSU had a 4 year span where they beat them by 23+ in 3 of 4 games. Distinct reasons why you won the past 3 times at your house, but before that, you were on a 3 game losing streak at that same house, to LSU. If you want to talk past patterns talking about that too.

I'm not looking it up but it's probably Aggie that is skewing that back to back road game stat. Bye!

Using this well cited statistic, how many of those teams lost the first game of the set, thus ensuring they couldn't win both.

And then, how many of those teams lost both games? What were the respective rankings of the teams involved? How did they fare overall in the season?

There are 100 other considerations beyond "teams don't win back to back road games."

don't know why the OP is getting downvoted so badly, because he brings up a legit point I made earlier.

Going on the road in consecutive weeks and playing a talented team in a tough environment is a big challenge, for any team.

This game concerns me. It should concern all rational fans.

Look, we're playing well and I hope that continues and we take care of business,

But if we lose, I won't be surprised.

You just going to ignore this trend?

quote:

Since 2008, LSU played back to back conference road games (without a bye) in 7 seasons. They are 6-1 in those 2nd games and the only loss was in the COVID season.
