For those traveling to the game or planning to go, if you don’t have reservations, beware that all downtown - university hotels are pretty much sold out, and prices are jacked big time for 9-7 all over the city.

Hotels are queued into big local weekends, and adjust their pricing? Weird. I hope that doesn’t catch on every place else.

Good thing we booked a vrbo six months ago.

Your best bet would be to do an Airbnb and rent from some hippie that doesn’t even realize there’s a big football game next year

I have an Airbnb and charge more during Mardi Gras and Jazz fest. Am I price gouging? Is this wrong?

appreciate the heads up. I've been waiting for a head count on my group so I've been tentative to pull the trigger on a room so far.

Southwest has a flight sale going on thru tomorrow. You can fly from NOLA to Austin on Saturday morning for about $80. And about $80 returning on monday

I gave up my room(s) a month ago.

Ticket prices from UT are $150. only 3,000 tickets being sold and that will be for the LSU TAF elite, player families and staff...

If you think this is bad in Austin? Try booking for the F1 race, the prices are 10x of what they are now!

Booked a room for a decent price a few months back. Tickets prices are more of a concern

The first year of that race, I saw the most outrageous hotel prices ever in my life. They know the elite rich Euros and expense-account crowd are coming.

Related: Stopped at a crappy hotel in Bristol TN once. Room was about $45. I asked how much for a race weekend.(This was back when they sold out the race for years.) It was like $275, with a 3-night minimum.

You should have seen the prices for hotels in Minnesota when the Super Bowl was there. The shitty little Motel 6 type hotels were $800 a night.
