What are the best areas to book in Austin? We are booking our hotel for the game and do not what to pay 700$ to stay downtown but also want to be fairly close and in a safe area. Looking for Friday and Saturday nights and around 200$ a night.. there is a lot available but just don’t know anything about the area

look for Airbnb's in Hyde Park. You can also look for places near a train stop that will take you straight downtown.

I recommend the Best Western Plus off of Oltorf and I-35. It’s close to downtown and the stadium, while being a fairly nice yet affordable hotel. My parents always stay there when they come to Austin to visit me.

There aren’t a lot of really unsafe areas in Austin, just make sure you stay further towards downtown than Burleson Rd and don’t stay directly on 6th street.

I don’t know how many nights you’re booking, so I don’t know what your price range is in reality, but I will say that the Hyatt Regency Austin (the one right across the river) is one of the better hotel values I’ve seen in a while. And as an added bonus, it’s a short walk from the hotel down the river the the bridge that has the nightly bat flight viewing.

Just got back from there. Embasy Suites was nice. Across the river from downtown, but well within walking distance to restaurants/bars.

Black's BBQ is about 5 blocks away. Highly recommend, but wait was long.

Hampton Inn on Lavaca is the perfect location between the stadium and downtown. Walk to both from there. Austin is a very safe city (I've lived here for 12 years). Can't think of a bad area that has hotels.

Airbnb or stay out side of the (city airport area or Bastrop). Everything in the city unless it’s a complete dump will be over $300.

Ended up booking at Comfort Suites in south Austin. 150 a night including fees and a short Uber to downtown and campus. Thanks for the help!

Stay away from Runburg , I35 area . Anything east of 35 can be sketchy. You’ll pay to be downtown. Try the Arboretum area , I live west of CedarPark and only go downtown for work
