re: Auburn or Tennessee for Road game?

Tennessee is my choice. The town, the river and the drive up there is better than AU. Funny story, we went to the game right after 9/11. I think it was two weeks later. The police had extended poles with cameras looking under every car that entered. But they did not look in any trunks.

For a unique first-time experience, Tennessee would be my pick. We usually take a Thur–Sun trip and stay in Pigeon Forge (less than an hour's drive from Knox). It's a beautiful area with countless things to see and do. The only drawback at Neyland Stadium is their 10-inch-wide seats! And is fun watching their "Lulu & Junior" fans.

Auburn is also a great choice. The fans are friendly, and of course, it's much closer to Baton Rouge.

Tennessee. Is not even a close comparison.

The best watermelon I ever had was purchased at a little roadside stand right there on Wire Road right off the Interstate in Auburn.

Auburn will have the better campus, tailgating, fans and atmosphere.

Tennessee will have better scenery in the general area and a better town/nightlife options, but man, I’ve said this many times before, I don’t know what it is, but Tennessee fans are weird. They’re impersonal and freaking weird. Completely different from LSU, Ole Miss, Miss State, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina fans

My GF is a big Vol fan and I've never been to Neyland. Always wanted to, so here we go and already reserved hotel, etc.

We are planning on going to Auburn it will be my son’s 1st road trip can’t remember when we find out about road game tickets or how many I get?

My son and I were down to those 2 as well, and we chose Auburn.

We've never been to either place, but chose Auburn because the tickets were $500 there compared to $1000+ at Neyland.

We live in VB, VA and go to one road and one home game a year. We only get seats about a third of the way up and between the 40 yard lines, and on the WEST side to avoid the sun/heat facing us.

Our mindset is if we don't have really good seats, that high def TV and home comfort is better to watch the game.

If the ticket prices were close, we would have gone to Tennessee. The gas alone will be astronomical either trip.

As far as fan treatment, we've been to Kentucky, S Carolina, UCLA, and the USC game in LV. MOST people are reasonable and just give you minor rizzing. I think it's best to avoid the student sections if possible, that seems to be where any problems might pop up, with the youth and alcohol combo.
