It mildly reminds me of the times the defense in football comes up with a turnover and some idiot ref blows the whistle and officially blows the play dead. No coming back from that. Happened to the Saints twice in the last couple of years. They now made it clear to the refs to not blow whistle even if it cleary looks like guy is down.

Likely just a bad call by the home plate ump saying he swung.

Not it’s not. It’s just a strike. But if you swing, it hits your knuckles and goes fair, it’s a fair ball in play.
