You have to admit Miles vs Oklahoma State in the Cotton is certainly an intriguing matchup ...
Of course it would suck to lose that game.

(if this was for me)
Definitely forgot about that angle. That's a pretty good one. And Florida State was mentioned earlier, that would be interesting too.
I actually wanted to talk about this last week, in a completely hypothetical way, but I didn't want to get the negatiger thrown on me.
I just find Big10 matchups to be much more intriguing.

So if we've narrowed it down to Cotton, Cap1 and Peach, here is every possible matchup for LSU in each game (I've deleted matchups that won't happen anyway even if it fits record and "standings-wise" like LSU-Miami rematch in Peach, Va-Tech-LSU after playing regular season last year, Missouri won't be in Cotton two years in a row, Penn State has pretty much assured itself a BCS bid, won't be a LSU-Ohio state rematch, etc) ....
Peach: (I still like to call it Peach, it will always be Peach to me)
Florida State
Maryland
Wake Forest
Virginia
Georgia Tech
North Carolina
Cotton:
Nebraska
Kansas
Texas Tech
Oklahoma State
Oklahoma
Capital One
Michigan State
Minnesota

Well the only thing that does suck about the Cap 1 is that it would be vs a dumb arse Big 10 team. Can't stand that conference.

Atlanta or Orlando doesn't matter to me, but no Cotton please. 10:00 kickoff sucks.

ANY chance the Outback would take us? Orlando's great, but we just went there a few years ago. I wish we could go to Tampa for a new experience.

Anything other than the Cotton...

Sugar....hey it could still happen.

Come on people we are talking tradition rich Cotton Bowl here. Please don't even try to compare it to the Peach Bowl.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if the Cotton Bowl once moved to the new Dallas Cowboy stadium gets back into the BCS Bowl mix. So a Cotton Bowl win could have alot more meaning down the road than any of the two Florida bowls.
Admittedly, the thing that intrigues me most about the Florida bowls is playing against a Big 10 team. You know that North vs. South thing.

They were in the Cotton last year.... they won't put them in Cotton two years in a row. Against LSU they would!!!!

Doubtful. It is rare for a bowl to want a team in consecutive years ... for obvious reasons, not as many fans travel for said team the second year nor is there much "national interest" in seeing a team play in the same bowl again.

I would prefer Orlando. Against Mich State.

Why do the east teams always get sent to Tampa? That would be a great 4 day trip. Great strip clubs, good night life, and a damn fine redman casino (Seminole Hard Rock). What's up with that? Tampa's closer to the west teams anyway, seems weird that eastern division teams always get sent there.

I know the Outback typically goes with an EAST SEC team... but why is it not considered a possiblitiy?
Also --- even if we win out ... I'm not sure we get a shot at a BCS bowl or even the Cap 1.... Didn't the SEC make a rules change to ensure that the SECCG loser gets a higher spot than teams that did not make it? I seem to remember this.
As I see it.... SECCG is UF/UGA winner vs. AL
SEC champ - If AL 13-0 -- they go to Miami, if UF/UGA - not a definate -- so Sugar
The loser of the SEC championship gets picked up next IMHO -- and they go to Cap 1.
Next are Outback, Cotton, "Peach", Liberty --- I see these 4 as possibilities for LSU.
IF we could somehow get the Cap 1 --- that would be my choice... Cotton is last on my list... bad history for LSU and SEC in recent years and game time is like 7:00 AM or so it feels --- I actually think it's 9 or 10 AM but who wants to play at that time in the cold?????
