It’s awful for recruiting

No it isn't. LSU has a great class lined up for 2025 while on this opening game losing streak.

Stop being such a pussy. If you’re a legitimate team, you win these games anyway. And even, if you happen to lose, and you’re a legitimate team, you’ll still make the playoffs - Alabama last year, OSU 2014, etc.

You are calling people a pussy, but you don’t realize how dumb you are

Sports aren’t played in a vacuum where the better team wins every game. You are inches away from a different outcome in any one possession game. There’s no point in putting yourself in that spot if you don’t have to.

Plus it seems we have new coordinators all the time over the last five years so need that scrimmage game to work out the kinks in the schemes.

You think a tune up against Nicholls would have gotten Sloan and Kelly to be more aggressive at the end of the game? Or maybe Kelly would have finally realized receiving after winning the toss isn't the right move if we'd have blown out Nicholls before last night. I'm generally in agreement with this sentiment, but I think the performance last night isn't the example that 2022 and 2023 were. No one was saying this when LSU was beating Washington, Oregon, North Carolina, and Miami in these games.

We lost by 7 points. Embarrassed may be a bit of a reach

Have you watched ESPN at all today?

Embarrassed may be putting it lightly. Kelly and LSU been getting made fun of all day.

The flip side is we schedule a Grambling and win 70-0 (ala Arky) and go into a week 2 game with USC overhyped and full of ourselves, and get curb stomped.

5 opening game losses in a row is embarrassing - it doesn't matter the opponents or the margin of loss.

Getting a reputation as a program is hard to get over. See: Clemsoning. They needed to win multiple NCs to get out of that moniker.

No get a scrub out of the way if you go full retard it was against a scrub and it won't bite you. That way you got your cobwebs knocked off then play a good team as your second game

In the last 15 years, we've opened the season in tiger stadium 3 times. One was the COVID year and another was the mcneese game that got cancelled. That's ridiculous.

The way the system is set up now, there's no reason to expose yourself. Come November, nobody remembers if you win these games but they sure as hell remember if you lose them. We need to stop acting like we're smarter than the system and start playing the game that everyone else is playing.

It would be kinda freaking nice to play at home for the opener.
