After a great bowl game and spectacular recruiting year? No one cares.

So, if we're LSU fans or alumni, all we're supposed to care about is football?

Wow, that's pretty sad if you ask me. I like football, basketball, baseball, and track. I want LSU to be good in everything. Those that live and die with JUST the football team I feel sad for. That means you can only have interest in LSU sports for four months of the year.

For what it is worth, the ESPN bracketology guy has LSU as a 9th seed in his current bracket and not even listed as "last 4 in". That tells me that IF we go 2-1 over the last 3, then we should be safely in.

Old white dude smelling like coffee and moth balls rolling into a young black chick's house doesn't exactly seem like the correct equation for closing the deal on top recruits to me.

Again, I hope you're right. But Creme did have us in the "last four in" as recently as two weeks ago. So, I think it depends a lot on what other teams do as well. It's gonna be very close, watch and see. That RPI in the 40s is gonna hurt us.........................but truthfully we deserve no better. Again, I'm just hoping that Van will do the right thing and step down as soon as LSU loses in the 1st or 2nd round of the NCAA tournament.

Most people understand that "JUST Football" pays for the Women's sports. And now it has too support the Men's Basketball team too. Baseball is the only other revenue producing sport at LSU.

I could care less what sport is "paying" for another. Either LSU wants to be Div I or not. If they do, then they have to fund all the sports in order to be Div I. That fact should have nothing to do with people being fans or not. And by the way, Football has ALWAYS "paid" for men's basketball..........whether they were successful or not.

So, again, I'm sad for those who only live and die with our football team. As much as I love football (I even traveled to the kickoff classic and Cotton Bowl this year), I'm just as enthusiastic about the aforementioned sports. I can't sit around for 8 months pining for football while LSU continues to field good teams in a number of other sports. I'm all for supporting the athletic PROGRAM at LSU.

Well, somebody has to care. Sorry to tell you, but the Obama "Money Tree" is fictional.

No it didn't. Most of Dale Brown's teams were always a money maker, that easily funded itself.

quote:

During Brown's era basketball rose to a level that no one could have ever possibly imagined. LSU holds the record for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th largest paid attendance for a regular season game in college basketball history.

* 1-20-90 Superdome - 68,112 - LSU 87 Notre Dame 64
* 1-28-89 Superdome - 66,144 - LSU 82 Georgetown 80
* 1-03-92 Superdome - 61,304 - LSU 84 Texas 83

What is LSU's attendence now?

Explain how 60,000+ would fit in the PMAC?

This is not a new phenomenon anyways.

Did you miss the location of the games?

Better yet, explain why Trent Johnson is not even close to being able to pull 60,000 people for 1 Basketball game.

Are we on track for 60,000 for home attendance- season? Serious question. Maybe paid, but I have my doubts as to actual...

She has been living off of Brittney Griner these days.
Before then she has had some relatively mediocre teams after the National Title they won in '05.

So she won a national championship at Baylor and now has Baylor ranked no one. I don't think "mediocre" is the word to describe Mulkey.
With a record like that at LSU she would be called "best ever".

Wow, you didn't really go back TWENTY YEARS to prove this point did you?

And what exactly does the president have to do with this?

The bottom line is this...............because I don't even know what point you're trying to make.................the other sports, whether basketball, baseball, track, etc, deserve our support........not just the football team.

If all you care about is football, and then down all the other "non-revenue" sports, then are you really an LSU fan?

For one thing Webb will be great before she leaves LSU but right now LSU doesn't seem to have any height under the basket.

Yep, I agree. I think Webb will be an All SEC guard before she graduates.

I also agree that we don't seem to have any height under the basket............................except that Van has a 6'5" freshman who was a McDonalds all american, sitting on the bench, along with another 6'4" freshmen who was ranked in the ESPN top 100, who's sitting right next to her. Both of them average 5 minutes of playing time per game. Both of them are shooting over 50% from the floor.

But, our brilliant coach doesn't see any reason to give them playing time. He'd rather go with our 6'2" and 6'1" post players instead.

Not sure if the right answer has been stated yet but here it is: When women's basketball becomes a revenue sport.

Everyone is on the Plaisance bandwagon, but I am not sure why. I mean, she seems like a great kid and yes, she is 6'5, but she doesn't look ready and seems to be soft. He put her in the Auburn game at home the other night and on one play, she allowed TWO offensive boards by the Auburn player she was supposed to be blocking out. I think that until she bulks up a little, the SEC would eat her alive if she got a lot of PT.

I disagree................
There's no doubt that she needs to work on her strength. But the skill set that she's shown in the games she's played could definitely be utilized on this team. She's a better shooter than ALL of our post players, and although she's not as strong or active defensively, she's still a big, tall body that teams would have to account for. In reality, the post player who should be getting the most time is not Plaisance..............it's McKinney. I haven't seen her get pushed around AT ALL when she's in. She's a great shot blocker and rebounder and offensively, she's AUTOMATIC inside the paint.

Trust me............I'm not advocating that either of those young ladies should start. But I DO think they should be used in the way Pokey used Sylvia during her freshmen year. That is, give them both 15-20 minutes a game of playing time. There's no doubt in my mind that there were at least 4-5 games that we'd have won had Van done this.

I just don't think people care as much when you flush a Title IX program down the toilet as opposed to one that is making money. i.e. Football, Baseball, and Men's Basketball.
