Les Miles had hard schedules too. I never held Miles to a lower standard no matter how difficult the schedule is nor will I lower the standards for this coach.

Its not realistic to expect perfect seasons undefeated every year but we need to at least hit 10 wins minimum

You said something about about next years schedule being harder than this years schedule. My point was, that wouldn’t take much since this was one of the easiest schedule in years.

Improvement on offense, continuation on defense
Good QB play

10 wins total.

I would consider that a great year. I'm not expecting Brennan or Narcisse to set the world on fire, but if they are better than average, I'll be thrilled.

Listen, we play Miami, who isn't losing much, Auburn, who isn't losing much, Miss St, who isn't losing much, UGA, who isn't losing much, Bama, and even Ole Miss should be better. Actually, most of those teams are on the younger side offensively, so they should be scary next year. Those first 5 teams should finish with no less than 10 wins this year Thankfully only one of those games are an away game and the other is in Texas (a second home for us).

My God the gauntlet, when put on paper, is completely and utterly ridiculous. I'm looking for the QB to become the playmaker because we most likely won't have a dominant runner. And by dominant, I mean Guice and Fournette level. We'll still have a top 25 run game though. The QB has to make plays for us to not lose 5 games next year. I mean seriously again, that schedule is cruel. If the defense stays like it is right now, I'd actually be satisfied. Need the OL and receiving corps to become strengths next year. Again, just overall improvement on offense.

BS. We don’t know this. Miami and Georgia might suck next year

You are such A dick.... We will have A huge problem doing better than 10-3 next year....

Just look at who we may lose and who is coming back... LSU will be lucky to start better than 1-2...

Considering we had 5 SEC road games this year....being 6-2 in the SEC is an accomplishment no matter the opponents final record.

Road wins @ Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss

home wins Texas A&M, Auburn, Arkansas

Not bad.....

I will try to be reasonable. A top 10 bowl, finish no lower than 2nd in the West. Ny6 bowl as well.

Needing to make the SECCG is always too much as long as Saban has Bama at this level imo.

Especially with a second year QB making his first starts and Hurts is Mr. Consistency in Tuscaloosa. Maybe the year after he leaves if we have a 2 or 3 year starter coming back.

That said the SEC is so weak right now. Even if you count Bama as a loss, UGA, Auburn, and MSU are really the only other losses that would be understandable. Throw in Miami to that mix and you’ve got 4 games where we need a split.

That would put 3 losses as the floor for me. Either 6-2 in conference if one of the losses is to Miami or 5-3 if we beat Miami but then drop an extra SEC game.

So 9-3 to me is a reasonable expectation for what the floor should be. 10-2 is a success, anything above that a home run.

Pretty similar to this year, although this was a year where we should have been 10-2 imo. Lose to Bama and split with Auburn and MSU.

SEC is trash and we wasted a golden opportunity for our first NY6 bowl because of fricking Troy State

I pretty much agree with this except my floor with a new QB and a brutal schedule is 8-4, with 9-3 being a huge success.

Though "how" the team plays in their losses is pretty important too and I will be looking pretty close to that.

All of the tough teams return their QB and most of their skill players... Miami, Auburn, Alabama, Miss St., and Georgia. And Florida, Arkansas, and A&M have the ability to beat us if our focus is not there, or we have a ton of injuries, etc.

We will find out everything we need to know about Coach O next year. How will they navigate this brutal schedule? Do they have any let downs? Can they keep their players healthy? If they lose a couple early games, can they stay motivated and continue to improve like this season? Or do they pull a TN or FL?

AT this point, I'm more interested to see how they finish the recruiting class this year, and what happens with Aranda and Canada.... (boy that's gonna say a lot).

What would constitute a successful 2018 football season for the LSU Tigers in your opinion?
11-1.

10-2 or better, especially given the current state of the SEC, is the minimum acceptable record.

That's why the fans think we fired Les, so it should not change for a different coach. I do not endorse bringing a different coach in to allow for lowered expectations. And frick Alleva if that's why we made the hire we did.

Why is that? Seems all our toughest games are at home except Miami and Auburn. Not trying to stir shite just asking why you think it’s a tougher schedule.

Other teams lose players every year. LSU isn't the only team that does that. At what point are we allowed to expect to be in the playoff picture and not just mark tough games as losses almost a year in advance?
