Wade does a good job of getting 5-stars and letting them play and show out. He also does a good job getting them to return when they want to leave. Look at Watford and E Williams. They both wanted 1 and done but…you gotta produce. He has given Reid so much leash and so far in 3 SEC games the guy is averaging 2.6pm and 2.3rpg. I love Efton and he will figure it out and get better, but he’s not even ready for the SEC let alone NBA or G League.

I believe they recruited Efton with the thought he is a one and done. I may be wrong in this. I also know the way he has played so far doesn’t make it seem like he will be, but sometimes when these guys expect to be one and done they go no matter how they played in that one season.

The same was said for Watford. Sometimes they play in the big leagues compared to high school, even if its IMG and realize they need to be in the program simply from a strength/conditioning standpoint. I hope Efton improves enought that he goes to the NBA because that means he becomes more of a force and pushes us far in the Tournament, but I think it is very possible he stays for one more year.

I don't know that much about Miller, but I thought he was more of a shooting guard.

Is he capable of being the main ball-handler and distributor?

big men like him are not really 1 and done guys.

and people buy way too much into recruiting rankings instead of just looking at the guy for what he is based on the tape

Yap. He was one of the PG's for the U19 TEAM USA team.

He was more of a PG to me when I watched his HS tape, too.

At Illinois he was just asked to be instant offense. Played on a team with a heavy 5 guard rotation.

Does Miller play distribute well? Admittedly I would have thought he was better as the 2 off ball guard. I mean it doesn't matter who starts as wade has said because Gaines is still giving you starter minutes this year, but if miller can play the 1 well then I would agree.

He was a combo guard out of high school. Averaged like 5-6 assists a game his last couple years in high school.

He would be more similar to a Javonte Smart PG (scoring guy) than a high assist PG which fits in pretty well with Wade likes anyways. He would probably rather a PG average 15ppg and 4 assists than 8ppg and 7 assists. He likes guys who can score 1 on 1.

Better than anyone on the roster next year.

Murry and Justice Williams are absolute buckets. You field your best roster with them on the court and Miller at PG.

Gaines' minutes could actually decrease next year.

Probably not. But I think you always have to assume a 5 star recruit is an "one-and-done" player, even if he shouldn't be. I don't get the sense Reid decided before he stepped on to campus that this would be his only year in college ball (unlike Naz, Cam Thomas and, to a lesser extent, Watford) regardless of how that year went. So hopefully LSU has him back.

That said, there is so much turnover in college sports right now, particularly basketball, that you can never be sure as to what the roster will look like from year to year. Hell, LSU had only one Senior on last year's team (Manning) that finished third in the SEC. They returned 4 of the 12 scholarship players with eligibility remaining.

He has a ton of skill, but he has a way to go. He can be a dominant basketball player, but he has a lot of work ahead of him to get to that point

Efton's biggest issue right now is fouling. Cant be on the floor long if you pickup 2-3 cheap/bad fouls every game. Being a big man especially you have guys driving at you all game so you can pick up a couple ticky tack fouls on offense and lazy defensive ones.

Also could stand to pickup a few more post moves. His hook shot (by far his go to) has been all but shut down against the better teams we've played. Big man is shooting 2 for 12 from 2 in SEC play and we simply cant have that.

He's also only gotten 2 offensive boards in 45 SEC minutes which is ultra low for a 6'11 big man. He's just going to have to get a little more physical while also dialing back the fouling.

By comparison Eason has 10 offensive boards in 87 SEC minutes.

I think it is fairly easy to discern.

1. Are you an NBA caliber athlete?

No? Then you probably aren't a 1 & done (Efton/Naz/Watford).

2. To a lesser extent, do you have an elite skill(s)?

Big men are hard to rate in high school because sheer size lends to domination, due to the overall lack of big men in high school.

And im not sure why it isnt being talked about, but I am pretty sure Pinson has a covid year of eligibility left, if he wanted to play another year in college.

He and Days could both stay if they wanted too, I don't have a source or anything but I get the vibe that they are ready to move onto what's next regardless of what that may be.

But I would love to have Pinson back next year, I think he has been pretty good for this team and having a guy like miller next to him would definitely make him a better player.

At this point in time, Fudge is more likely to go pro than Reid. Fudge has had a lot of buzz from draft experts the past couple of weeks. As raw a player as he is, his defensive potential is ridiculous.
