That said, I honestly think that JJ is a great example of someone who get the word "athletic" applied to him PRIMARILY cause he happens to be black.
It's gone on for a LONG time. I don't know if you're old enough to remember Sammy Martin but for a bit when he played, he was BY FAR the fastest WR we had AND, he was shifty as frick on returns. BUT, he was white. You'd watch games EVERY WEEK where the announcers would refer to him as a "ball control" WR and would refer to our black WR who in fact was a very good ball control WR as the "deep threat".
It's fricking hilarious to me. Sure, the stereotype is usually true but typically, observers make little effort to actually KNOW beyond seeing the guy's skin.

Brady started EVERY GAME for two seasons. WTF are you talking about? He was a ALL-Big 10 and set Michigan records for completions.
Chill out, my point does not disagree with you but Car thought Hinson was the better quarterback. Read the article, nice read.

Honestly, if JL is given a shot(I suspect as a FA) and makes an NFL team and at some point in the next couple of years, starts a game or two and does well, Miles will NEVER(and should never) hear the end of it.
I'm not predicting that for JL. But holy shite, if he does it..............
It would be just as far fetched (or maybe even less) than the TJ Yates story with the Houston Texans. Listening to the commentators talk about him during the Bengals-Texans game and how far he had come since the combine when they didn't even let him throw as a QB during the combine (they had him throwing to the prospective DB's in a session not even designed to look at him as a QB).
Then going full circle to be given a chance to make the Texans as the 3rd string QB buried on the depth chart to winning a playoff game was quite remarkable. It made me think about Lee and how awesome that would be if he was able to get on a squad next season. I would love it if he could prove the haters wrong but it would also make me mad all over again every time I think back to the game on Monday night.

Be funny if Nutt calls all passes just to make a point that Lee was capable. Would be a bit of a middle finger to Miles.
Of course if Lee throws a pick-6, MIles will look like a genious. He's got a nack for doing that sometimes.

Lee's quick release will get him a look by some teams
Is he ever going to be Drew Brees? No. None of us think that. But he may have a role as a backup in the NFL, even if it's as a #3 guy. He may even get drafted.

No problem.
I just don't think misevaluating two guys who BOTH end in the NFL is a particularly egregious failure in college.
Fans like to use the word "suck" a lot when we talk about NFL players but really, there are no "sucky" guys playing QB in the NFL. They just suck for the NFL. But, that's really like being the dumbest member of Mensa.

quote:So you don't think position coaches in the NFL are better than what LSU has? You don't think if Lee puts in the work, he can get better. He can become a serviceable backup. Who knows with confidence and coaching what he can be. I doubt he will also, but damn he has a better shot than JJ.
However I doubt he ever becomes a legit NFL QB. He is and has always been afraid of contact. His footwork is horrible and his vision of the field leaves alot to be desired.
quote:
Yes he should have gotten a shot in the game but instead of ending the popular backup.....he would have been just as much the goat.
And if putting Lee in the game gives the same results, you have to at least show a willingness to try. Because.......

It's called reverse racism and it's very prevalent in the NFL. Jacob Hester was a great example with what he dealt with in his last year at LSU and the constant stereotype he had to overcome as a white running back and then having to overcome this stereo type as he was being drafted.
Interesting website that many will call "racist" which is ironic and rediculous if you actually read the information and the facts they say. Absolutely no different than NAACP, BET, Ebony magazine or anything else that promotes a particular race or ethnic group.

Stupidest term I've ever heard. Racism is racism. There is nothing in the defintion that says it has to be white vs a minority to be termed "racism"

I can't believe that some of you all still bring up the pick 6's from 2008.
JL was a freshman that was put in a questionable position. On many occasions we ran the ball on 1st and 2nd down, then with 3rd and long it was obvious we would be passing the ball.
It was 4 years ago, let it go.

FYI Sammy Martin was a RB who did play alot on 3rd down and line up in the slot some but he was and RB and a very good one.

Jarrett Lee's story is far from being finished. We are fixing to see some good chapters added.
