Monken is in a tough situation because the rule changes to cut blocking have ruined his M.O. which under center triple option offenses. He's done it all his time from Georgia Southern to Army and he simply cant run it any more with the rule changes so Army is in a transition period now trying to figure out how to run a more modern offense which frankly doesnt suit the players he recruited in the past. Army isnt like other schools and can just hit the portal for quick fixes and changes.
I would be careful if I was Army fans. Monken won at Georgia Southern and he's won A LOT at Army. He has won at least 8 games in 5 of the last 7 seasons there. He even finished RANKED 1 year which is a gigantic achievement with one of the service academies.
Perspective here is before he arrived at Army they had gone 16 of the previous 17 seasons with a LOSING record. The 1 year they had a winning record was 7-6...So they went from that to having won at least 8 games in 5 of past 7 seasons under Monken. I'd be giving him time to figure things out.

He's probably overachieved as head coach there.
As Army's head coach, he has had several seasons with nine or more wins and in 2018 finished 11-2 and ranked in the top 20.
