Life is about second chances. I have been one of the most critical posters here about Gilbert.

In 2019 we had a couple players who missed a few games because of mistakes that they made.
Those guys were seniors. Glad they were given the opportunity to correct their mistakes.

Maybe he HAS figured it out and wants to come back with a more mature head and make up for his mistakes. Is this possible?

Alot of you are making excuses for this quitter, what kind of example do you think he sets for the Young guys coming in?

He is a young guy. If he wants a do over I say fine, I would have loved some do overs at his age.

There are no "do overs." You got the talent to make millions of dollars playing a fricking game and blow it. Let someone else that wants to dedicate themselves step up into his role.

It would take a hell of a lot of humility to ask to come back

The rumor is he needs to focus on academics. If he can't get his GPA up he will never play for a major program again.

Well in all honesty, the dude really doesn’t have to. He proved this year he could play against the best, and he is a freak of nature that is a total mismatch for any LB and safety that covers him. If just plays somewhere and keeps his head on his shoulders, he will be playing on Sunday’s and I will take bets on that!!!

Orgeron, Peetz and Mangas are gonna let him come back under certain conditions, with a rope that is shorter than Ed's.

A soon as he hits the practice field, I'd move him to WR and let him get a lot of balls coming his way.

The anticipation of this happening when the lights come on, may provide enough motivation and positive energy for him to move forward........

If O brings him back, I say you make him sit a year or at least a few games. Don’t let him come in and get his spot right back even if he is clearly the most talented TE that we have.

Or your back is against the wall.

He would probably have to go juco.
Of course he would pick lsu over juco.

If he can get his grades up and rhe team approves then fine.

That Coach O is a guy that will support young men through difficult times in their lives and not just care about what those young men can do for the football team W-L record.

I swear, some of y’all act like your shite don’t stink. Crying about “quitting”. None of you say that about Marshall Chase, Vincent or Shelvin. Y’all talk like a butt hurt ex who got dumped.

An 18 year old kid with a huge spot light on him went through personal issues that are clearly more important than a game and all during the unprecedented situation of a global pandemic. Get some perspective. He’s 18, most of y’all are 30 to 70 years old on here. I know his excuse for immaturity. What’s y’all’s?

We don't want him, he is a bad Locker room guy. All he did was complain last year. LSU now has a new positive attitude with new coaches, let Arik destroy some other team's locker room.

If everyone on here knew what health issues he had you might not be so quick to judge. I not a big fan of his, but after herring the inside story the kid had some rough deamon to over come

Hopefully they assign a personal mentor/guardian by his side 24/7 to help him keep it straight and narrow.

Guessing that he committed to the Gators and they had not seen his academic record so they told him he would want to decommit to save face.

If he is struggling that much in class will he ever get on top of that and how in the world can he learn the play book.

Yes he’s got some issues to work out, but this kid is an elite, generational talent at TE. You people are out of your mind if you think he wouldn’t make this team elite and have a chance at a title run. ESPECIALLY in a better offense with Peetz at the helm
