The talking heads are basing their opinions of us being 6-6 on 3 things; 1. The SEC West is as deep and talented as they’ve ever seen, 2. they believe O left LSU in the worst shape it’s been in 20 years, 3. some believe Kelly won’t be successful here because he “isn’t from here” which is just fricking stupid.
I’ve heard a couple analysts say that LSU is a sleeping giant. The talent is here. People (fans included) have been fooled 2 straight seasons and now it’s a “show me” situation. LSU has to show it on the field before people will say it again.

Man we really are unfortunately 2 or 3 injuries away at quite a few positions from having to start guys that are no where near ready to play at a sec level yet. I think alot of the concern is depth related...
You could say this for every team not named Bama or Georgia.

Unless people are gushing with praise, the perception is always that we are being disrespected.
I have no idea why LSU fans have such an inferiority complex.

They don't know. Too many new faces - it confuses them.

Disrespected...no. There are just so many unknowns abouts this team that all the national sports media is playing it safe
This, and the fact that LSU burned through two decades of getting the benefit of the doubt in just two years.
That said, I don't think LSU is being "disrespected". The program is 11-12 over the last two seasons. So it is reasonable to presume LSU won't be able to finish high in the toughest division in all of college football.
However, I DO think LSU is underrated because media/fans outside of Louisiana don't fully understand just how bad of a coach Orgeron was. They think he was a big reason for the success of 2019 and he just had some tough luck with personnel losses and coordinator hires that didn't work out over the last two seasons. The reality is LSU STILL had plenty of talent over the last two seasons (second only to Georgia in number of draft picks). It just that post 2019 Orgeron implemented himself in the on-field approach, rather than stay of the way like he did in 17-19, proving, yet again, just how bad a HC he is. The greater Orgeron's involvement...the worse the program's performance. He's proven that at, now, two stops.
That anchor on the program is gone now. And while LSU doesn't quite have National Championship contender talent yet, it is still greater than 90% of all of college football and top 1/3rd in the SEC. Now, for the first time in two seasons, a proven HC is in control of that talent. THAT is why LSU is underrated. They no longer have the single biggest reason for the poor performances of the last two seasons involved in the program.

Les took far less talented teams to 9 wins. I mean think about the dream combo of Harris and Jennings.
Les NEVER had a team with this little talent. He was consistently putting talent in the league. Sure, he had some shite QBs, but he won with the running game, defense and special teams.
When did Les have this weak of a RB group?
When did Les have this weak of a defensive backfield?
When did Les have this weak a LB group?

LSU has to get by FSU (they will) and @Auburn and Tennessee has to beat Pitt (they will) next week then Florida, but if those things happen we’re going to have a top 15 undefeated matchup on Saturday night in Death Valley in a little over a month. Don’t have to worry about 2:30 game because A&M-Bama week
More than anything I’m ready for order to be re-established I guess. Pitt game got me excited.

Pundits do not concern me, Mr. Devil.

I have heard everyone pick the Tigers to have 3 wins to 12 wins by "experts".
A lot of new faces in Baton Rouge and I don't think anyone will really know what this season will likely be until we move into early/mid October.
I am sticking with 10 wins. Losses at home to Bama and away in C. Station. Solid bowl opportunity in a NY6 bowl and then a dangerous team next year maybe even special.

Who cares what we’re ranked at the beginning. It only matters near the end. Oregon is ranked eleventh and they will lose their first game this weekend. No biggie. Relax, enjoy the game and if all goes well we win 27 to 17

Les never coached a “far less talented” team than this at LSU.
And the SEC, specifically the West, was nowhere near as good top to bottom. Not to say there’s no chance we win 9 or to even predict that we won’t, but it would be an incredible achievement that should be celebrated were it to happen, and not something that should be expected because of your improper gauge on our talent compared to the rest of the league. Other teams have really good players too.

We have won 3 NC's the last 18ish years. Were we expected to win one in ANY of those seasons?
By some people, yes. Here were our preseason AP rankings in the 4 years we played for the NC:
2003–14*(after finishing 2002 unranked; moved up to #7 by September 21st)
2007–2
2011–4
2019–6
So plenty of people in the media expected us to be very good those years.
*I now know Chris Landry has ties to LSU, but I didn’t at the time when I heard him on either a national show or a local Austin show. It was probably the week before the season started, and I’ll never forget where I was—Mr. Gatti’s parking lot on 620 in Round Rock. They asked Chris for a dark horse NC pick, and he talked up Saban, mentioned Mauck coming back from an injury that really derailed our ‘02 season, and said “Don’t be surprised if LSU goes undefeated with their schedule and winds up playing for or even winning the NC” (I don’t think he was saying it was an easy schedule, more just that we got Georgia and Florida at home and Florida was probably gonna be a bit and start a true freshman at QB—they were and they did, but “oops”
I remember it so vividly because it was the 1st time I remember a potential LSU NC even being put out in the ether by anybody really, especially in the national media. Even after our amazing finish in ‘01 and our good start in ‘02 (after VA Tech). My perception of the potential of the program changed that day, and the entire country’s had by the end of that year. And we’ve had plenty of respect in the national media since. This “woe is me, nobody ever respects us” chronic victimhood bullshite is bullshite. Stop it.

Burrow was the REASON so many thought we would fail in '19.
What?

Yep we definitely are, that's why I hope we win by at least 2 touchdowns!!!

I was told in 2018 that LSU was going 6-6. So I don't care what people say.
