Are Bryce Langston and Tygee Hill ready to give us some meaningful snaps?

After Smith went down, we only played 3 interior DL in Roy, Guillory, and Wingo (thank God for him). But as good as those 3 may be, I’m not sure they can hold up for 75 plays this weekend (and 2 of the 3 will likely be on the field the whole time). Can we get anything out of the younger guys yet without sacrificing too much? We’re gonna need them for depth Saturday and the rest of the season. Even if we stay relatively healthy, just too hard to play an entire SEC schedule with only 3 DTs you can count on.

It's time for Langston to step up with the way he got hyped up his freshman year. I'm wanting to see something out of him this season.

I think Langston will be good, but we've gotta stop giving any credence to anything said prior to January of 2022.

Orgeron spewed so much bullshite out of his mouth those last 2 years, it's gotten to the point where it's hurting players who don't perform the way he predicted.

Facts. I remember the season where Freak Johnson and Christian LaCouture had to play every snap in games because depth was so thin

That was a 3 man rotation of Freak and Ego as starters and Lac as the backup. With occasional appearances by that big DT from Breaux Bridge who couldn’t stay healthy (#95, something Thomas).

It’d be nice to get Wiggins in the mix at some point too. I know he’s technically a DE, but he’s like 6’5” 280. Is he still hurt?

Langston went in with the walk ons so it doesn’t seem like it

Wouldnt mind seeing Gaye slide inside some especially on 3rd downs and let Savion Jones play on the edge. He looks really good and ready to contribute alot more. Inside only confident in Roy, Guillory and Wingo at this point. But outside feel alot better w the 2 deep.

Normally I would agree, but it's not like Ed was talking big about everyone, and he knows DL as well as anyone. There's a reason he talked up Langston so much, as it wasn't just once or twice either, he saw the potential there.

I think part of it for Langston is just getting to playing size for the interior. Remember he was like 250-260 in high school, got up to about 280 last year and and is now more comfortable 290-300 range.

Dont get me wrong, I dont expect Langston to suddenly be playing 30-40 snaps a game or something. But he should be able to provide 1-2 drives a game of relief for the other guys on the interior, so think like maybe 5-10 ish snaps a game or so. All they need is a breather with Guillory also able to rotate. Where things get more "we need a lot more of you" is if 1 of the other 3 guys get nicked in a game and at that point he's going to have to play way more significantly.

Just reading the tea leaves here if you watch when he gets PT for the guys surrounding him he doesn't appear to be far along as hoped. I saw him in with some 4th stringers.

Hopefully this is a lesson learned by our fans not to name our DL “best ever” when they haven’t ever done anything to receive such sayings.

Kinda disappointing for Langston considering he was a top 250 recruit.

Lester Earl had already posted that Langston went into the game with the walk-ons.

This is where having Apu Ika and Soni Fonua would be very helpful.

Never happened. Godchaux was a true freshman starting alongside LaCouture the sophomore in 2014. They both started in 2015. In 2016 LaCouture was injured and missed the season. In 2017 LaCouture started and played with Gilmore and Heron.
