I wasn't around for the Archie days but I'm pretty sure he didn't beat us with the most insulting play that could be performed by the opposition...the 'jump pass'.
So, i've gotta give the tip of the hat to Tebow.

I have to say Manning. I'll never forget that nightmare in Jackson during the '69 season and what that loss cost us post season. I was at that game and that is the one game that I'll never forget. We lost a shot at the NC and because of Notre Damn we lost a berth in the Cotton Bowl. It really hurt when the Sugar Bowl selected Ole Miss over us, so Manning gets my vote. Tebow never cost us what that loss to Archie cost us.
Have to agree with you avondale- I was young, but remember that game well, cost us an undefeated season & chance for a championship game...

If you want to see how to run the option, look at a replay of his games against LSU...dude was amazing, he personally beat the Tigers...

Bond couldn't throw a pass past his plant foot until the Tigers lined up across the line. Then that frick could do no wrong.

John Bond was a tougher foe for LSU than either Tebow or Archie. At least LSU was able to beat both Tebow and Manning, but could never beat John Bond at Miss St. of all places.

You beat me to it. The first qb to come to mind when talking about LSU futility.

I saw him play in the 1970 game against LSU. He had a cast on his arm and he was still dangerous. LSU went on to win big, but the final outcome wasn't obvious early in the game.
I found some youtube clips below.

If you compare Archie Manning to Tim Tebow, you have to recognize the difference in styles. Tebow a bulldozer and Manning relied more on finesse.

You can say what you want about him in the pros, but he was damn good at Florida under Spurrier.

ETA: I second Shaun Alexander

Depends on how you define rival I guess, but for me AM never even won an sec title (overrated just like his boys) but TT won two sec titles and two nc's, once as back-up once as starter. If we hold ourselves to a high standard, it is TT but Archie was not a winner when it counted

11 years of mannings playing cf never won a nc, and were 1-10 in sec titles...says a lot

As an LSU nemesis, I would rank Jon Bond and Danny Wuerffel both over Archie Manning and Tim Tebow.

We didn't have a freaking PRAYER against Wuerffel. No chance. ZERO. And we knew it going IN to the game.

TT was a 5 star and M might have been a 2 or 3. He was not the best qb in Miss his senior year. Jimmy Patridge was voted player of the year in Miss and went to Miss State. Manning never won anything in the sec at Ole Piss, neither did Patridge at State. In fact Manning broke his arm and played 1/2 a season with a cast on.....

the best qb to play against LSU and beat LSU 4 times was not TT. It was John Bond at Miss State.......
