That will tell the story. If Aranda and Coach O really still have a great relationship, then Aranda will stay through the playoffs. If Aranda doesn't stay, then you'll know that the relationship deteriorated as badly as I think that it did.

That is even more odd. Fire your OC before the national championships game.

He’s not getting pushed out dude. Too much money on the line. LSU can not dictate that

Kiffin accepted the FAU job almost A MONTH BEFORE coaching the semi final game. He didn’t leave Bama then

Saban kicked his arse out after the semi final game

If he takes the job he’s coached his last game here.

It's possible. Hopefully he hangs around but if he's taking the job at UNLV he seems kinda desperate.

Would be a first for a playoff coordinator. Those guys continuing coaching their current school
Yeah, Bo Pelini took the Nebraska job, but stayed and coached LSU's defense to a national title against Ohio State.

Verified Vegas media guy on reddit:

I have broadcast contacts who tell me this is a solid possibility. If it happens, the new stadium, new facilities, new booster support, all that could elevate the Rebels to something not seen in, well, forever.

Edit: Matt Canada is still in contention as well. And Arroyo hasn't been totally ruled out. Looks like every possibility is still in play.

Why do you think Saban fired him? That doesn’t make sense.

If he’s smart he would do NOTHING unlv related until after the championship. Don’t try to do both jobs, let them know up front he won’t be their coach until January 14.

Do you think this could be his agent only stirring up controversy around Dave to get a extension while the team is hot?
This could be a play to get him a larger buyout and an extension
I don’t see Dave leaving right before he gets a ring and another accolade for his resume.

What ever happens I’m sure Aranda wants his NC ring more than anything.
What a recruiting tool that is.

Saban and Kiffin didn’t exactly have a great relationship that entire season

After the semi final game it was clear Saban didn’t like where Kiffin Head was at

Quit spreading this nonsense and go jump in a lake you old bitty. Remember Bo Pelini?

My guess is that he's not going to coach UNLV next year.

"Fertita" as in the guys who sold the UFC for 4 billion in order to focus on making Vegas a football town.

Awesome.

I'm gonna say one more thing since this has me a little upset.

Some hypothetical things

Maybe there are internal issues that we don't know about. 2011 there were more issues than most know and I personally am aware of this because my close friend was a starter at the time. Maybe there are some issues going on within the coaching staff that just hasn't came to light. Coach O is a defensive guy so if anyone is able to secure our teams D at a time of a coach leaving then we are in ok hands.

If it is true Aranda is headed out or even 50/50 then that's enough for me as a coach, if I were one, to say screw it just leave. Don't poke the bear...
In my eyes if he has already been in talks then as a coach or AD that's more than enough reason to show me his head and heart are NOT fully into this goal of a championship like our team has set .

Aranda has now become a distraction. You can't tell me he isn't at this point.

If he decides he is leaving and he continues to coach I would be absoutely frustrated because we don't need a coach who is about to face some of the toughest offenses in the country trying to guide our players while another coaching job is on his mind.

Coach O has guided this program this far and since he is a defensive minded coach who values this state and team as much as we do I am certain this is gonna be the end of Aranda.

Why go into the playoffs with a coach not fully into the program?

I hope he is relieved of his duties or simply takes the damn job elsewhere because he nor any other coach deserves this position with a half heart.

Geaux Tigers and bye Aranda.

Get over the upset. IF teams stay successful things like this are likely EVERY year. Get over it.

He has a recruiting class to build at UNLV and a coaching staff to assemble.

He’s going to be pulling double duty
