Coach O meddling with defense is the reason.

This is what I said

quote:

Example Orgeron having to apologize after the Ole Miss game, talking about how he got involved in the playcalling of the defense

when I said after, I meant the press conference.

Wouldn't surprise me.

Defense hasn't been clicking all year and Aranda has a strong track record of highly disciplined defenses.

Something changed this year.

Ok my bad I misunderstood. Fact is, and I didn’t want to say it because you get attacked for it here, but part of the issues on D was Orgeron being too involved. Too many 4 man fronts and cover 2 style looks which are Os bread and butter. Once Aranda was given more freedom you saw immediate improvements. Not to say O doesn’t know what he’s doing but he’s never coached the 3-4 so he’s really out of his element and shouldn’t be meddling.

Well if this is true than thank God for coach O. We needed him to meddle into that BS

Yal have it backwards, he stopped meddling after Ole Miss, it’s gotten better since he stopped.

If this is true, and we lose in the playoffs because O couldnt let his coaches coach, then he got lucky but never learned his lesson.

Here again, just like Troy, against Ole Miss, O admitted to meddling.

fair enough. same thing could be said when he started doing it with canada's offense. I just think, IF ALL OF THIS IS TRUE, then O just wants a new guy. Somewhere along the line O's and Aranda's vision on what should be done on defense has not been lined up. Throw in the fact that Aranda was actually hired by Les Miles.

And if Aranda were to leave, you have to give O the benefit of the doubt to find an excellent replacement.

I thinks it’s a little overstated. I don’t think O is overruling Aranda is what he was talking about but when they’re in nickel and dime or more 4 man fronts O calls some blitzes he’s used to. He still shouldn’t be doing it he should be using his Dline expertise to help players polish moves and have better technique. But I surely don’t think he’s jumping in and messing with the plan, from what he’s said it sounds like one off suggestions and calls on certain situations and it’s stopped.

That might have been just the first time he meddled with the playcalling during the game.

Doesnt change the fact that he couldve have started effecting gameplans throughout the weeks.

This is from nola.com, but there is video of Orgeron admitting he called a run stunt that didn't work and turned into a long run early in the 2nd half for Ole Miss.

quote:

Orgeron said he was the one who called for a blitz on a long run in the first half, when inside linebacker Patrick Queen and outside linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson chased the running back, while Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee faked the handoff and sprinted free for a 46-yard touchdown. "We tried to be a little too aggressive."

You’re right we don’t know is the truth. All we know is he took blame vs Ole Miss for a blitz he called personally and Busch took blame for the safety play. They both shielded Aranda , O did it vs Bama too and we know he’s not scared to hold coaches accountable so he meant it.

I never saw this previously.

Welp, he's the HC. He can do what he wants.

And we're 13-0 so no harm no foul.

Oh u made it sound like you heard from people on the team

You mentioned more than just calling the stunt in ole miss game

But you’re still conflating two entirely different things. Orgeron said he made a call during Ole Miss, you said he got involved with calling the games after Ole Miss. two very different things.
