What about the 8 other coaches. Any dislikes there? 1/8 isn’t much to go off of

Mickey Joseph probably loves him like a guy who gave him a 6 figure lottery ticket for nothing.

Good news it looks like. At least we are fully buying into the system, there was no way it was going to stay that cheap. At least we showed we can pay. As long as this doesn't hurt the OC search/contract this is probably a good thing. Although, this was a win/win for A&M, they got us paying top dollar.
I do hope Aranda has the Coach in Waiting tag now, that would be a positive.
I still have 0 faith in O to win a National Championship though, I just don't see it happening and would never trust him up against any top flight coaches, BUT this shows we live or die with Aranda, not O, who I'd probably put more trust in. I still think the politics, and the distance between O and Aranda's contract, are a bubbling problem. Whether or not it boils over at some point, we'll just have to wait.

I would love to know what O is thinking having one of his assistants making almost as much as him.

Well said. That's right where my thinking is on all this.

What? The trolls from other schools tell everyone how great O is and hope he never leaves.

Nobody else is making him head coach so he should be happy to continue to be propped up.

Not so much at all. Chief was a double win to loose. Aranda would be a double loss.

Here's what I don't understand about people saying Aranda is now coach in waiting...
That term is normally used when there is a coaching legend who is going to retire soon and has a coordinator groomed to replace him.
Youd have to claw O away from this job kicking and screaming. He's not retiring any time soon. And Aranda will certainly allow him enough victories to make firing him difficult.

I agree. If Aranda is making $2.5m just hand him the reins.

He either fails and you fire him or he wins 8-9 games per year and you let his contract expire. If he turns it around and wins some hardware then you have your next dynasty headcoach with a top flight DC for 3-4 years.
Pretty simple actually. Aranda can wait two years. If people are throwing this kind of money at him now then he's banking on being worth even more 3-4 years from now.
Aranda can wait two years

O is locking down recruiting and managing personnel.
