Agreed-- people is a bit of a stretch. "Person trying to bait" is probably more accurate.

I think reasonable people agree that money important to a point. But good work environment equally, if not more important at those dollars. Respecting boss and being respected goes a long way.

I've given Coach O a lot of shite in the past and will continue to do so when I see fit. But, his ability to retain Aranda to this point is damn impressive. I don't care how much they're paying him. The guy could go just about anywhere he wants to go. That absolutely reflects well on what O is trying to do.

I think the majority of the people wanna see O do well because that means LSU is doing well. A coaching staff divided will not succeed good to know everyone is gelling. Sometimes that is better than having a Name at a certain staff position.

I have not reviewed your post history and will never do so. With that said, your responses seem logical. Critical at times and complimentary at times. O has made good off season moves. All LSU fans want to see that translate into great on-field success.

Aranda received an $800K pay increase because he is worth it.

You realize he could both respect O & play the leverage game like any logical person would do when they had opportunity, right? It doesn’t have to be one or the othet

Nope nope. Aranda actually hates O and holds him in contempt. Everytime he sees O's face all he sees is his horrible old miss record and that no other school wanted him. He's lying about respecting O and the only reason he stayed is the money. Of course he also knows that the players don't like or respect O either so that's all playing in the background. Oh and not to forget he hasn't understood a word O has said to him since they met due to O not knowing English. Nope it's strictly about money for Aranda.

Yes but there's a vocal core of posters here that actively pull for O to fail. I don't understand it and sometimes my utter contempt for them spills out.

My dream is for LSU to win the title this year, fire Orgeron on the trophy stage and immediately promote Aranda.

Yep, that makes a lot of sense. Fire your head coach immediately after winning a title because some dimwitted fans have never liked him.

I remember not wanting to leave, myself. There's so much respect I have for Coach O, and I mean that in the way that he handles the team; the team loves him. As a coach when you spend so much time doing football, you want to come to work, and you want to enjoy that experience. You want to be around people that are good people that can laugh at things and cut loose when it's time to cut loose and work when it's time to work. And I think O has assembled a group that is very much that way. I appreciate that. The ability to have Bill come on board, I appreciate Bill and what he's done ... when you're at a spot where you can do what you want to do on defense and you've got a great relationship with the head coach and like the people that you work with -- you appreciate the sacrifices everyone is putting in, and it's mututal, and the kids are on board working hard -- you don't want to leave that.

awesome- thanks for sharing that

makes me want to pick them to go 12-0

One positive thing I will say about coach O is he has done absolutely everything within his power to make this all work. I truly do like a lot of what he has done. Him being the headcoach on gameday is honestly his main hiccup.

And no one wants 2 $2.5 million coordinators on their books, but we set those terms up. The expectations are bigger, the margins on success are smaller. If he doesn't immediately continue being the #1 coordinator in the country, that's a huge problem because his salary is never going down.

Now that's a valid concern. At some point, we need to see a return on this salary. What happens if Fla has a better D, for half the price?
Can we justify this with 9-3?

He didn't need the money to stay but he sure wasn't gonna turn it down. Big difference.

The ATM is rich af thing is just stupid at this point. they're paying market value for what they believe to be an elite coach. That's all. If they can just buy everything why have they sucked for so long? God people just repeat whatever someone says on here and put no thought into shite at all. Does college not teach kids how to think anymore?
